Here's my friend's funny experience: His ride is a 1997 Cadillac Catera,the so-called"The Caddy That Zigs". Yesterday he drove to a local(He lives in Beijing) Cadillac dealer to have a brief review on Cadillac CT5.After dealing with the CT5,it occured to him that there was an error code in his car and still haven't been removed.He told this to the mechanic of the dealer and then the manager of the dealer knew the whole thing.On hearing the news that a old,rare Caddy is now in the dealership,the manager came to him excitedly with a Tech2 scanner. Guess what?20 minutes has passed and the scanner still couldn't read and display the code.After hundreds of tries,the manager turned to my friend,asked him such a question: "Is your car really a Cadillac?" What's more?My friend then spent nearly 2 hours to explain the relationship between his car and Opel Omega.After the manager understood the relationship between 2 cars(oh finally),he suggested my friend to go to the local Opel dealer to have a try. (On his way to the Opel's,he passed by a Buick dealership and stopped to have a try.It was in vain lol)
The effects are not from car emissions, it's from tires and brakes mostly. And those, are always there. The increased weight of EVs increases the amount of tires and brakes. leading to more resources needed for brakes. And then they become useless after 10 years, 20 at a push with how EVs are made now because of the battery. Then because it is very expensive to replace the battery it will most likely be scrapped and a new one will have to be manufactured with probably all the same emissions problems with manufacturing one today.
