Pickup trucks have very little weight over the rear wheels, making them useless in 2WD tug-of-war's and driving in slippery conditions. That's the only advantage that Defender had, lack of overall grip on the truck. That, and the Defender driver wasn't mashing the accelerator to the floor, spinning the wheels, thus losing traction.

Its not an invalid argument though, thats the way pickup truck suspensions are designed, the more stuff you have in back the better it grips the road and the better it rides as well

Already covered. The defender construction is near identical to a pickup, hell the rams bed probably weighs more than the defenders entire body hence putting more weight onto the rear wheels than the defender had across all 4.

That wasnt the bias towards the defender I was picking up on.

Its rather simple actually. The defender had a rolling start. Whether that was deliberate or a case of the ram driver being incompetant or simply the torque converter on the ram giving a slight delay in power delivery rather than a perfectly executed pull away in the likely manual defender (although there are auto defenders too and I cant say for certain which that was) or what, I don't know, doesn't matter why the defender had the rolling start but it was moving forwards before the ram started to try moving which does give it an advantage.

The one that I said I like was an early 70s Ford Galaxie 500

Those have some of the most badass looking font ends ever bolted onto a car imo.
    The cars I said I didn't like:
    late 80s-mid 90s Pontiac Bonneville.

No way a Ram has more than 1900 kg's of weight on it's rear wheels...

Let's just agree that video wasn't a fair comparison.

    FTFY ^_^

I do have an urge to find this Corolla, buy it, remove the "aerodynamic modifications" and paint it a factory Toyota colour (and add some wheels to replace those dustbin lids:D)

You'd prefer a Mini van or hatchback over a car that can haul almost anything, can drift & can reach 100km/h in 4.5 seconds?

    You're fuckin mental mate.
