ok im gonna say it to both of you this mod has not seen an update in a while and will most likely not seeing any new ones what has happened is called bumping it is usually frowned upon and you will get yelled at for doing it if the forum post has not had any new posts in 3 months there is a big red box saying that there has been no new posts in 3 months i reccomend reading it and if a post has recently resurfaced and all the previous posts are responding to a bump please do not request more stuff for the proably dead mod

My father had an old CJ2a with a hardtop that we used to drive around in all the time and it was probably the best time I've ever had
    --- Post updated ---
I know this mod is probably dead but if possible I was hoping you could try to make a hardtop.

How do you know it's a dead mod?

I do still have plans to update it, I just had other priorities with different projects and RL stuff.

It hasn’t been updated in almost 2 years so I totally understand why people think it’s dead (I did too honestly), so I’m really glad to know that it’s still alive!

Really excited to see what plans you have for this mod! (And I can't wait to see the features that were teased be added later on as well!)

Would you and @Klayking consider combining your two awesome mods into one "pack"? Just to keep our already overflowing mods folders a little less cluttered :p lol

you can do it by simply opening both files in winrar and copy the files in the TPUGavrilGPV into another file's TPUGavrilGPV, at least i think so

Responding here by the author's request

Engine is missing its texture, I think there's something weird with the headlights (like rather than fully lighting up a light floats in front of them), and the animated shifter isn't working I think (if it even had one)

But honestly the mod is still playable, my wording in the review "fallen into disrepair" may have been poorly chosen.

Also this is just my personal opinion but I feel like the matte paint without any texture makes the car feel... "unfinished". Even a few spots of rust and a bit of roughness / normal grunge could make all the difference I think. If the car is UVed and you wanna send me the model I could even offer my help with it, substance painter materials do wonders in little time.

The engine & turn signal stalk are easily fixed & have been (by me), not sure about anything with the headlights as mine seem fine.

The engine material was really easy to fix, so I'll try to cook up a quick update this weekend with that + a few other small things like mirrors, possibly stealing the headlamps from the nine, and whatever other small thingies I can do within a weekend.

I do agree it is kinda unfinished. I was loosing motivation in the project back then and wanted to just push something half-decent out of the door and move to something else. Doing a proper update is on my todo list but I've been getting distracted by other projects :p. My current main modding project has been to fully revamp the superlite nearly from the ground up as that thing is really starting to show it's age. At least with the GPV I'm relatively happy with most of what is there, so any big update will mostly involve building up on it.

For the materials, I've done some attempts at using normals to create some uneveness in the panels initially as I do agree they're a bit flat, however it resulted in weird "banding" all accross the body so I moved away from it.

For the edge wear and stuff the challenge with paintable parts is always with having that looks decent with all colors. That's really obvious with the colorable chassis where the imperfections are significantly more visible with darker colors. I'll try making it more obvious on the body though. There is some currently some small imperfections but it's very basic.

Replying to this older message since I've seen a few people request it.

While I have plans to implement myself some of the things he did in his pack (NDT tires, animated shifters, probably other stuff), I don't plan on combining his entire pack into the GPV.

Some of the things he has made are meant to make it more into an actual jeep, which isn't really what I want to do. I'll try to ensure the thing stays compatible with the GPV as much as possible, and if I break specific elements it's because I'm replacing them with my own equivalent.

All I can say is that, for a mod that you lost motivation on, this thing is incredibly fun, beyond impressive, and just fits really well into the vanilla game. I'd take it over a lot of the officially released offroad vehicles. Again, it may feel a tad unfinished, but what's there is great.

Then again, I adored the Superlite too back in the days that I used it (You are right, it does show its age, hence why this is in past tense :p) It'll be huge to get ot reworked as we have a severe lack of 50s car options in this game.

My offer to try my hand at a slightly more worn skin will remain open so just lmk whenever if you'd like me to try.

I have ADHD so motivation is uhhh... complicated. I can have a project motivate me to the point I spend all my free time on it for a few weeks, before completely loosing motivation for a while. I've learned to ride those waves of motivation as they come, and try to prioritize getting something good enough out of the door instead of trying to do all the things right away.

What didn't help with the GPV is that I was still figuring out a bunch of things like proper texturing, working with a 2 UV map setup, actually making my own interior, and things like that, meaning things too longer.

I'm at a point now where I'd really like working on it, as I feel it's one of the last few mods I have that isn't quite there. There a few thingies here and there missing like animated shifters. I was also working on a V8 swap that got cut to push the thing out of the door. And I'd really like to make a rat rod version as well as a more built up crawler variant.

For the Superlite I'm really focusing on modern Caterhams for the initial revamp, with the new 200bx engine and a bunch of new parts like Dedion rear suspension, better adjusted suspension, and pretty much every single model remade to better standards.

And I'll keep your offer in mind, I just want to make sure that I don't end up having to redo the UV maps when I make a cut body for a crawler.
