It started when they mentioned UGC (User Generated Content) and someone mentioned "paid mods" being made official repo mods. Then I basically said "ah crap" and @hacker420 didn't like that.

It started on page 3367. (Holy crap that a lot o' pages...)

Steam have a great problem with early access games, there is no verification and no control over creative process. If we get support for paid mod's with verification and some legal protection for us buyers and for modder's. I think it would be great but in sign of law, I think that modder's could get protection from stealing for their work (For ex: "after using mod for 2 hours I could not get refund", "Pirate site"s) and refunder's should get some data of seller of the product ("Like IRS id number of some data of the seller").
In my personal opinion, those tactics should be done at the end of release of the game (" Mods won't be Brocken any more because there wont be no more update's").

I mean, is that even a thing? Would we ever reach the point of no more updates outside EOL?

If you look back I said that I don't want paid mods on the repo. Then hacker420 turned it into the whole 'you don't want modders to get paid" argument. And it was a summary... granted a short one.

See? These posts are right one after the other. You can confirm this on page 3367 (unless he edits it by then[Doubtfull, but possible])

And if it was inplimented these sugestions would definitly help.

I'm gonna go out on this wild limb here, and say that should mod support become official (which again, is hardly confirmed), there will probably be search categories for paid vs free mods. And no offense, but I'm not going off to purchase and play an unrelated game in order to try to understand what point you're trying to make.

Okay, that does sound legitimately awful, and I can agree that I don't want that in BeamNG either.

But, A. that's the result of the company trying to get people to pay more money for first-party content. I trust BeamNG not to shove the next big shiny purchase right in our faces, but even if they get as greedy as Saber is, why would they plug somebody else's creation so that that person can make the lion's share of the money? The incentives just aren't equatable.

And, B. that's very dissimilar to how this game works. You don't see hundreds of random repo mods every time you open the vehicle selector, you only see what's on the repo while on the repo. Seeing things you don't own and will cost you a pretty penny when you're just trying to play the game sucks, and should be discouraged industry-wide. But seeing them while looking through the equivalent of a shop is... just par for the course, man.

Ever think that perhaps one of the reasons there are so many great mods being released is because the modders can now freely ask for compensation? I've been here for at least a half-dozen highly talented big-name modders getting burnt out and giving up. Mythbuster, AdR, Stoat Muldoon: hell, it's still happening. Meanwhile, LucasBE has released five dev-quality, lore-friendly vehicles in just over four years. Anything that stems the burnout tide is probably worth considering, and it looks like this is working.

There were a lot of people piling on, so I'm not faulting you for the outburst. But I can't help but feel like we've arrived at the heart of this matter: love it or hate it, it isn't your repo.

Please shut up and stop arguing like little kids. Paid mods will always be a thing whether you like it or not. I think we should be grateful that the devs even let us mod the game. Forza devs will immediately ban you for even the slightest hint of mod usage. Be grateful that we even have mods in the first place.

Very true. Aside from KLJP, I would've quit ages ago. There'd be no way I could balance my life, a conventional job, and modding.

Now, I get seeing paid mods in the repo would be annoying but I doubt the devs would mix them together. Take the automation mods for example, they're in their own separate category because the average player doesn't want to scroll through thousands of automation cars to find custom mods.
Unless they do mix, It's a win-win for everyone. Average players will have easier access to high quality mods, modders will get much more publicity and money therefore more incentive to make mods, BeamNG should get a cut so they'll also benefit, people who don't like paid mods don't have to see them or buy them.

Just simply ask on first start of the game if you want to see paid mods, like it is with telemetry and online features (would be nice if you could also hide the Automation category)

Is that not just keybinds to control the button panel on the back of the mixer?

I wasn't saying it was "my repo". It was a poor choice of words. I meant my "repo expiriance" (doesn't sound much better tbh) As in when I use the repo to browse for free mods and manage my automation mods.

And yes it is annoying that every time I even quickly mention my dislike for paid mods, half the forum lines up for a turn at kicking my rear.

I don't want any more butt kicks so... QUIT BRINGING THIS TOPIC BACK UP!!!

I only want paid mods if they're LJ74 and LucasBE dev quality for around the same price they charge for theirs

For real, I have no clue how musicman hasn't been banned yet this might be the fourth or fifth time I've seen one of these sort of outbursts from him

In my opinion, the mixer's functionnalities will be finished in the 0.33 if we consider the upcoming T-series remaster part 3.
