Alston Maelstrom/Maalen The Maestrom is a British economy car designed in the late 70s to save Alston from their financial difficulties and reintroduce themselves into the British market against Gavril Europe. Silly lore stuff over, this is my first mod, heavily based off in-game models and the guidance from the folks on the MFD server. The mod is a lore friendly version of the Austin/Rover/MG Maestro with some extra content. Progress speed will vary and shift but I'm not going to give up unless I have no choice. Plans: -5 door and 3 door hatchback body -Van body (?) -Speech synthesiser -Equivalent to the 2L turbo MG -Aftermarket parts like the alternative grill -1.3L, 1.6L, 2.0L diesel, 2.0L petrol turbo and something else (secret) -Custom wheels and hubcaps Here's some pictures of progress (yay): Note: I am open to aid, suggestions, etc. Feedback in any manner is really appreciated
Will there be Montego saloon and estate body styles? I'm asking since the Montego is based on the Maestro.
Only a word: thanks!!! I love this car!!!! Question: is a british police / unmarked police / luxury configs planned? Please!! Keep it up, I love it!
I may contact someone else about the police variants because my skin making abilities are admittedly appalling. There will certainly be an equivalent to the vandan plas because I cannot resist some faux wood and a weird voice synthesiser complaining at ya. Thank you for the support
First of all, I like that you are making a mod of a less popular british classic! As for a suggestion: I personally think that the name sounds rather odd. Maestrom sounds like Maelstrom, which is not exactly a nice thing. I suggest the name Mastero. It is almost identical to the original and to me, it sounds more pleasant as a car name. Of course it is up to you to decide how the car will be named. I hope you like my ideal!
Funnily enough I was trying to write Maelstrom and have misspelt it like a twit. I might name it after the root dutch word - Maleen?
Minor update, some typology changes (thanks to AX's advice on MFD) and door updates --- Post updated --- Last update for the night. tomorrow I should have a shell and can begin working on details. So far pretty rewarding and definitely worth it!
im gonna love it ima use it as a 1990s police chase through breadstake uk but i need a uk cop car from the 90s so it sucks that i dont have it
This is awesome! Is there a chance we might see any predecessor (Allegro) or successor (Rover 200) models in the future? Or any other models that would fit under the branding? Best of luck with this, I'll be watching this one closely!
Terrible British car from the 80s? Now there`s something to get excited for! Hopefully it comes with a rusty paint design since they all did eventually start to rust
Absolutely, I’m planning to base a beater off a Maestro in Bushelgreens (scrap yard up North). --- Post updated --- If anyone wants to use to branding I’m happy to let them if they ask me however I’m not likely to make another Alston after this. I’d rather make some other European cars (mayhaps my own)
