Just looked it up on the repo, the "Hirochi CCF" only got 105k and it was the mod THAT LITERALLY BROKE THE REPO WITH ITS POPULARITY!!! I think 100k is a little high for a min expectation...
Popularity is created by time as they say (most of the time atleast), look at the OG CarJumpArena map mod from 2017 as an example, sure, it might've had some tiny features that were ordinary back then, witch were not noticeable at all and were super tiny details, and other than those, it was a pretty ordinary mid 2017 map IMO, from the textures, to the explore-able areas of the map and the "details" in big and open areas, so it was a pretty normal & usual map for it's own time, and from my guesses, it didn't gain the popularity it has today until it got trendy on some BeamNG YT channels on mid-late 2018 or so. sure, it might've been a bit unfair with some mods like the CCF2 and some others, one reason could be the fact that the majority of mod downloaders are a one-time visitor of the mod download page and all that, and so this leads to many of the downloaders, especially the ones who have alot of UN-mangaged mods, not be able or forgot, or don't want to update their mods when one drops out for a mod, witch if they do, the amount of the downloads most of the time increases by a fairly big amount of number, witch could be a big hit on the amount of mod downloads, CarJumpArena is a rare exception though since it really hasn't been updated since it was uploaded to the community in 2017, but, time passing made it the most popular mod of all the beam community, so, giving time to a mod is a good, possible solver of the lacking downloads amount of a mod that deserves more. (not just talking about the B50 btw). from 2 months to 2 years or even more, it could always make a big change
The thing that is annoying is that Nekkit is complaining about downloads. But, he literally made the Astro, which has more than 1 million downloads. And he also made one of the most beloved mods, the Ibishu Chisai (also having more than 500,000 downloads). But yet, he is complaining about downloads. He doesn’t even make money off of downloads, he makes money on early access (which sells pretty well, being a reputable modder).
Why does it sound like yall think nekkit owes you the mod I'm not gonna say I don't want this mod and wouldn't be disappointed if it was canceled but nekkit ultimately doesn't owe anyone the mod and If he decides it's not worth his time that's his choice to make
it has over 800k where’d you get that misinformation But that’s besides the point To be fair, I feel like I get Nekkit’s lack of motivation to finish this since it is a lot of high-quality work just for a portion of the BeamNG community to have fun with. I mean, the thing is hard to jbeam since it’s so tiny, but to be fair, 100 thousand downloads is still quite a lot, so it’s not unpopular by any means!
Shh... I got that stat from the in-game repo, so its "legit"... --- Post updated --- Also, you just grenaded our chance at motivaiting him with stats... --- Post updated --- Because its a BS move to say you won't release a mod unless you know its going to have 100k downloads imedietly. At this point it sounds like all he cares about is fame and early access money and he's probably afraid he won't get much money or fame despite his previous popular mods.
did you get the part of my message that says YOU ARE NOT OWED THE MOD (there I put it in capitals so it harder to miss)
He’ll still miss it dw Musicman, please stop being extremely stubborn with your wrong views, you do this all the time and it just makes people mad at best. If you keep this up, nobody will like you (not sure if anyone does right now but if someone does they definitely won’t if you still do this)
I'm just waiting for pure french cars and NPC cars for realistic scenery --- Post updated --- MysteryMan is the example to follow : being happy simply if people like the mod and not caring about it's popularity
I know I do not "own" this mod but my "veiw" is that it is extremely annoying that he put is time and effort into it, hyped us up, then said he would not release it unless it gets some astronomical download count that he can't be sure it will get unless he releases it.
I am going to be honest; I understand that putting effort into making a car mod only for said mod getting less than 100.000 downloads is demotivating, but the amount of downloads should not matter when it comes into creating a mod, especially when one or more of your mods have mostly positive ratings and helpful criticism. I feel like Nekkit is taking a break from modding altogether (or worst case scenario, he is probably considering retiring from it), as I haven't seen progress of the AW Astro Mk1 ever since the thread for it was created, and the fact that the AW Astro Mk2 has not been updated for 0.32.5 yet, so eh...
