Hi. I have tried to make a skin for beamng drive recently, but it doesn't work at all. I tried editing the skin and material json stuff but I'm not good at this. I can provide a complete uv of the skin if someone could insert it into beamng and send me the file for the skin. I would be really thankful since this would be my first ever beamng skin and I worked a lot on the paint job. I put the uv skin into the thumbnail. (the car that the skin was made for was the ETK 800 btw)

Hey, I took a look at your skin and put it in game. It looks pretty clean for a first skin, not bad.
However, although your original file was the correct aspect ratio, it was an incorrect size for this kind of thing since it needs to be to the power of two (1024, 2048, 4096, etc.) otherwise it doesn't work. In this case I had to resize it from 3840x1920 to 4096x2048, and once it was resized it worked perfectly - although some details appear to be slightly misaligned and may need some minor edits.

I have attached the working skin.zip below, I included the original .png file along with the converted .dds texture too, I hope this helps.

Thank you so much. Yeah some details may be a little misaligned because while creating the skin in paint.net I accidentally moved a few layers without noticing. I will try to fix the mistakes on the uv later. Again, thank you so much.

Also do you have any ideas if I could improve on the design? Idk if it looks ok like this or not.

why am I talking so much in this thread lol
    anyway
If you still look at this thread for some reason
I have tried to make a skin in a similar police theme again
this time for the modded car etk1300
and it doesn't appear to be working
I did everything needed for it to work but it wont show up
    I even resized the image
I can provide the files for the skin (skins, materials and the uv itself) if needed
I really don't understand what I'm doing wrong

Ah, no it's fine. I can't think of anything to improve it since I'm not very knowledgeable on emergency liveries, it looks alright so far.

I'm not too sure about the ETK 1300, since I rarely use modded cars, but I can take a look if you want to send me the files. I wouldn't have thought it'd be too different from what I did for the 800 Series, and I recommend looking at the files I sent you for that and compare them to what you have made.

More importantly, when it doesn't show up in game, are there any errors regarding your skin's files in the console?

Your .jbeam needs to start with an "{", this is most likely why it wouldn't show up.
The texture file you sent was also the correct aspect ratio but the incorrect size again, it needs to be to the power of two : 512, 1024, 2048, 4096, or even 8192

Also, consider placing your files in a new folder inside of the vehicles actual folder - so: vehicles / etk1300 / YourModFilesHere for example (as I have done) - this saves on possible file name conflicts.

Working skin.zip attached below, the ETK 1300 confused me for a moment until I realised it used the 800 Series' textures.

Oh my thank you so much again. I think I accidentally deleted the "{"
I tried resisizng the image this time but I probably picked the wrong size. Anyways thank you so much for your help again.

screenshot_2024-08-14_19-40-25.png screenshot_2024-08-14_19-39-40.png They look amazing! I love how they turned out. I also experimented a little and I think this style fits the etk 800 a little more
