I think I could be paid. That maybe would give other motivation to do quality work like that. Maybe the problem would be that it would be difficult to know if the map is good or not without trying it first. So maybe a second map should be paid.

I know I will be donating if the map is released for free and I download it. I think it might come across as a bit of a bait-and-switch to some members of the community if you tease all of this progress and only then announce that it is going to be paid, rather than mentioning that from the start.

    Thanks for your thoughts. :)

Well, I simply haven't asked myself the question of whether it should be paid for or not. I'm designing this map to primarily satisfy my own standards. And they are high because I really enjoy driving BeamNG vehicles on self made top class maps. If you read through this thread or take a look at Barbent's Gambling Zone, I think you can clearly see what I mean. I've gained a lot of technical experience in building maps over time. I'm sharing this with you, including here in this thread and others. So It is a gain for everyone even now.

I'm showing you the many pictures and information here to share the joy of my work on the one hand, and to make the progress visible on the other. I don't see this as a bait and switch tactic, to make donating an option. Should I not show anything else then and don't announce what I have made? o_O To be clear: I can afford to work on the map every day. It's a full-time job.

I have the feeling that some of you don't value this thread and my work very much. Be it littering and speculating, be it illegal linking to Modland(!) or some other bait and switch assumption. I find that a little sad. But luckily that is not "the community" :)

Btw: not that I expected it, but nothing was donated for my other released map either.
If you want to support me instead of being impatient or negative, then just donate! If not, then don't. Quite easy.

The work time is long, the map is huge. I said that I feel it should be free. That's my statement as long as I can afford this project. The focus is on the endless joy of designing and playing. I want to share that with you. But it won't go so quickly, because it's an incredibly huge task. Consider your role in this game.

    So here we are:

I haven't made screenshots for a while. I had to delete and overhaul some areas and was focused on progress. But now I took a little time again to catch some views...

Your Gambling Zone is one of my favorites! It's got this certain quality -- I don't know a good word for it -- where it feels natural but also cleverly designed at the same time. That is, in the real world, there aren't this many points of interest and good driving roads in such a small space, but the way you built it, I don't even question it -- it's just real. I'm *seriously* excited about your new map! I get into Beam for the enjoyment of driving, and Home Range is going to be PERFECT.

Fantastic map 'Barbent Servo GT'..very much like the abondance of well laid out tracks and highly detailed structures / elements etc.

Just a few screenshots of my trip around 'Barbent's Gambling Zone' map.

    Glad you enjoy it! :)
'M D Gourley', you are definitely the master of screenshots ;)!

For the 'Gambling Zone' map I used PBR ground materials, as opposed to 'Homerange'. As I mentioned above, the main reason for this is to be able to design more freely. I don't even think that I will change this towards the end of my work, because it looks very good with a non PBR ground. I also decided to use almost no rock objects and therefore have to sculpt and paint all contours in close and wide range with the mouse. It works really well, I must say. This also gives me the freedom to design the topography very spontaneously.

That map is truly a work of art. I would go as far as to say that it should be featured instead of Daddelzeit's Oregon, USA map, due to the pure attention to detail.

No offence to Daddelzeit, he also did a great job.

Have I not already said that I am sorry? Dude, it was one link, and it was a completely safe mod. Jeez. I get it, I can't inform people on where to get the reputable mods you use in your photos. Noted.

Dude? 'Leg the Peg' I am not your dude. Keep the forum rules! The mod was a private rework and not one of your illegal links. So your informations were wrong anyway. Thanks for your sorry, I recognized it. Edit: With the boat I just wanted to show the accessibility of some parts of the map via water, sorry from my side to show non vanilla mods sometimes.--- Post updated ---
Thanks for this compliment! I think it can not be featured because I did't found some time to fix the lights and maybe because there are no timetrails or missions. Just enjoy the map - that's what it was made for. :)

Having a great time in the 'Barbent's Gambling Zone Map' and decided to spawn in my favorite prop for screenshots, ( when I'm not flying it that is;) )...the B25 Mitchell Bomber.

Enjoyed finding this Camp Site by the 'Age Dam' and it wasn't until I set a later time in the day the the 'Camp Site Fire' lit up and started burning and moving in closer you heard the crackling of the wood etc....absolutely awesome work 'Barbent Servo GT'

Note: To avoid any confusion, I have to say that the pictures by 'M D Gourley' are not from the map that this thread is about. :) Still, amazing photos! Maybe they sometime come to the Community Screenshots Area, hihihi..

I read that the map is 70 km² big. I wonder how many kilometers of roads the map has or will have. If you have the info, if we go from one end of the map to the other, if we drive at a speed of about 80 km/h (50 mph), how many minutes of driving it would take me?
I hope it will be an interesting map to explore, with incredible details. American Road had that feeling but it is not very pretty anymore given its age (only the mountain was interesting).

Unfortunately since some update of BeamNG I do not have the loading screen any more, where it showed me the total length of all roads.
It takes about 7 minutes on the highway at 120km/h. Half an hour without cornering with a fast car for the longest continuing road. And you can drive about 2 hours without taking the same road again. Most of the time you can see the big mountain from everywhere, so it is not easy to get lost or wander around, despite the size of the map. To explore everything calculate several days :) but it will need different cars. I even managed to refuel once. I drove around all day without a crash. The fuel tank held about 25 liters. And I'm not finished with the map yet, hahaha!

Looks great! Do you make your own height maps?

I have an Idea for a map and eventually what to make it. But, it involves me (or someone else) to make a height map
