As i see modland mods are pretty safe but the ads are horrible, when i wanted my "bonnie gammer prius V" it downloaded me opera gx 5 times

 

Use uBlock Origin.
Or follow the advices from everyone on this thread: do not use ModLand or any third-party website. Use instead the BeamNG forums or the in-game repo.

 

To be honest, I use modland sometimes to get mods that aren't on the repo (Like a toyota prius, Volkswagen Van, ect), lots of other Movie creators do that too
But be careful, always check the files... and get good mods from there, or at least decent ones

 

I always check the files with Yandex Antivirus or on VirusTotal

 

same, no detections so far, however you gotta pay attention to the 'behavior' tab.

 

I have downloaded over 50 mods off modland and never got viruses , the thing is that: you gotta be careful , most mods on modland have their download link set as modsfire.com which sometimes when you press the download button there a new tab will open of an "ad" (yes i have opera gx ad blocker) which THERE you may be confused and think that the download link of your mod is there , dont fall for them , just close the tab and press the download button on modsfire once more

 

exactly how I do it. I use ublock origin, and adblock plus, and malwarebytes browser guard, which are the holy trinity imo

Yeah, I don't even get mods from there anymore because there aren't even decent mods anymore that I would download

 

modland is risky yes but sometimes you hit gold mines

yep , some mods are amazing there , but mostly utter low quality mods or if some good ones mostly paid ones

the thing is , ad blockers DONT work because its not a popup that appears on your screen ITS A NEW "TAB" like modsfire redirects you to an ad link which opens in a new tab
