I watched it on iplayer at dads today. It was good, not the best though. Although the hoo ha over a single license plate, yeah yeah yeah, we may have walked all over the argentinian military *with* a broken supply line and almost no helicopter support at all but the license plate as genuinely the factory plate on that car (DVLA records confirm apparently) and they did absolutely nothing else to hint at the falklands at all.

I take the falklands war victory as confirmation that the falklands are british. If argentina don't like it, they can go straight back at it then and likely have the exact same result as before - a complete ass whooping, but please don't as we both lost enough blood the first time around.

Terms don't mean much to me. All I know is I can't build my own engine, I don't have that kind of skill. This BMW has it done for me, so I can work on what is actually important to me.

You guys will be shocked when it comes out. Some of you will probably hate me, not denying that, but I can live with that. You are all entitled to your opinions and thoughts, which I completely respect.

Hah, seems everyone here watched the patagonia special.

It's a damn shame the cars were a total loss after being abandoned on the side of the road. Sure, the mustang was wrecked by that time but that Esprit... it was mint. Lovely car.

I'd rather have the Porsche 911 Beetle. The price you found is a good deal though. I am not a fan of the 928... I don't really like the looks of it.

Why are you even buying a BMW to salvage the engine out of. It's pointless to spend a bunch of extra money on a nice car just to get the engine out of it.
It's the most expensive alternative, and I bet a BMW engine with however many kms you said it had on it is trash by now.
You could buy something like a wrecked land cruiser or something and get a newer, nicer engine with life left in it.

I am trying to get the best out of the $3500 budget. The BMW seems ideal, and it looks nice. It is the cheapest BMW V8 on carsales.com.au Every Holden I see for this price, looks like a wreck.

You don't need a car that looks nice to pull the engine out of. At all.
You can probably get way more engine for your money if you look at the cars that are the least good looking. Wrecked cars.
I know tons of salvage auction sites for the U.S., but I don't know of any for Australia. I'm sure there are some though.
    There's also craigslist.

Panel gap on the doors look pretty dodgy. Looking at the top and bottom edges, the drivers door is shut, the rear edge has a massive panel gap though. May possibly be poorly repaired crash damage or it may simply be a protective plastic lining that is hard to pick out on camera. Treat with some caution though.

Looks to me like it's a plastic door ding stop-erer down the edge of the door.
If the drivers door did have a half inch panel gap down the side of it, that would be very worrisome.

Everything in the dash cluster froze, at what I assume was the time of impact.

yeah fully possible, but I have never seen a full length one on a car before and you can see the colour contrast running from the very bottom edge of the door all the way up to the top edge which is what raised my suspicions about it being a panel gap rather than door protectors.

If anything though it shows 1 thing to watch for in particular. There is only 1 image and its not the best quality. I like lots of higher quality images and a textual description of the vehicle before I look at it.

EDIT: Ok, its just an awful site that doesnt make it obvious there are 6 images.

That's actually a safety feature. It also helps with insurance and court cases, etc.

It could help them deny your claim for some bullshit reason.
Like if you're speeding and get in an accident that is completely someone else's fault, health insurance could try and deny your claim because you were speeding.
They tried that bullshit on us when we got hit. One of the very first questions they asked was if everyone in the car was wearing a seatbelt.

Theoretically. I don't believe insurance companies actually look at the dashboard of the vehicle, but I can see where you're coming from. It helps with rates and stuff, mainly, not so much your coverage. So, yea, fucking people over, essentially.

And it also helps with the inevitable lawsuit that would have been had. More fucking people over.

I honestly think it's main design is to just fuck people over. "Oh, you were doing 47 in a 40!? Blah blah blah, insurance rated quadruple. Blah blah blah, lawsuit. Blah blah blah, living in a van down by the river. Blah blah blah, dressing his daughter up for the corner of Turfway and Dixie to make daddy money because he slammed into some ricer in the side of his Nissan Stanza because he ran the red light yet all of the witnesses seem to think he had the arrow when he clearly didn't because other traffic was obviously going in the other direction but the U.S. Government doesn't really care because it's designed to screw it's people."

Well, you should have all been wearing a seatbelt. Driver of a vehicle gets a decent fine in the UK if any occupant of the vehicle isnt wearing one, as the driver it is their responsibility to stop the car if some cunt refuses to wear one, you have zero reason to not wear one.

Speeding itself is a decent accident causer, somebody cuts across you while you are speeding and you hit them, they have the excuse that they thought you were driving slower and they could make it
