I was wearing a seatbelt. We all were.
In the U.S., the driver isn't held responsible for the actions of the other people in the car. I'm sure you could sue and get some sort of blame put on them if something happened, but that doesn't happen often.
Of course speeding can insinuate accidents, but in a case like that it'd still be ruled completely their fault. Our court systems don't fuck around with that bullshit.
I'm talking like, completely their fault, though.
Say you're just cruising down highway 80 at 5 over the limit, and some idiot in a Venza turns out of a gas station right into the passenger side of your car. They send you careening off the side of the road, into the ditch, and you end up rolling twice before you come to rest on the other side of the ditch, in a cornfield. Your health insurance company is notified, and they deny your claim because you were speeding.
    A lawsuit ensues.

unless you live in california, in which case the driver IS held responsible for the actions of other people in the car (including not having seatbelt on)

as they should be. As the driver, if someone isnt wearing their seatbelt you shouldnt have driven off, simple.

Oh, health insurance isnt a concern for me. Requiring health insurance is fucking retarded. NHS ftw.

    California isn't America.
I'm sure there is some accountability on the driver's part around here, but it's not a huge deal.
I don't think the driver should be held responsible for the actions of other people in the car.
What the fuck ever happened to accepting the risks and blame of what you're doing?
If I get into a car, don't put my seatbelt on and get hurt in a wreck, that's MY fault, not the driver's.
I don't want to have to baby sit my friends when I drive them around, and I wont. If they don't want to wear a belt, so be it.

If you're speeding then it's your fault, almost automatically. Unless the person is jumping a red light or changing lanes without indicating, your speed was likely the cause of the crash and you should've been slower.

The car's frozen dashboard isn't trying to con you, it's trying to tell the truth. It stops you from claiming you were doing 40mph when you weren't. If frozen dash clusters help them deny your claim, then your claim was fraudulent.

So you're telling me that if the crash that I described above occurs, it's still my fault, solely because I was speeding?
If I'm driving 4 over down a wide, 5 lane road and some idiot pulls out in front of me and I hit them, it's my fault?
I think it's complete bullshit for blame to be automatically put on someone just because they were speeding.
You haven't dealt with many insurance companies have you? They're all fucking assholes.
They take any opportunity they can to dodge their responsibility in legal cases. A health insurance company is there to pay for injuries. It doesn't matter if I was wearing a seatbelt or not. I got hurt, and it's their god damn job to pay for it.
It shouldn't matter, but it does. Fine print and shit I guess.

I was 12 the first time I drove. (9 if just sitting on your moms lap and steering counts as driving.)

Well yes it does make it your fault, on a 5 line road by british legislation and advice you would have moved over a lane to let them in....

    Wut
I mean you're driving down the road. On the outside lane, and someone pulls out of a shopping mall or something, trying to make a left turn across your lane, directly in front of you and you broadside them.
It's kinda hard to move over a lane when someone pulls out directly in front of you.

I literally just said in the very quote that you posted, unless someone jumps a red light or turns/lane changes without indicating, the cause of the crash is likely the speeding. Just because you didn't read the post properly doesn't mean it's automatic "bullshit blame".

I have absolutely no idea how you deduced anything remotely close to that from what I said, but yes, I have driven a car. Nice assumption there.

    Acquire screwdriver
    Remove instrument cluster
    Open instrument cluster
Nudge speedo needle 5km/h below speed limit
    Reinstall instrument cluster
    Problem solved

First car I drove was ~1986 Lincoln Town Car when I was 4 or 5. (Now I know where my love for the Panther came from) I sat on my dads lap and drove it down my grandmas private 1/2 mile long driveway. Then at 13 I drove my Ranger by my self on the driveway learning how to drive stick.

    It is automatic bullshit blame.
Assuming that the person speeding is at fault is stupid.
Also, do you lack the ability to convey your points without coming across as a condescending asshole? From what I have observed, you do.
You assumed he wouldn't be able to drive until he was old enough to drive on public roads.
IIRC the age you can get a full license is 18 over there in the U.K., so I just applied to same logic to you.

Not even close. The tone is only used on people who deserve it.

And no, the legal age is 17.
