Re: General discussion chat I'm aware, and it's still 17. The minimum age for your proper driving test is 17. If you pass it before you're 18, then you've got your full licence at age 17. Regardless of experience, it's 100% possible to be a fully legal driver at that age.
Re: General discussion chat If you were speeding and were involved in an traffic incident it greatly increases the chances that you had some part to play in the incident occurring. In the example you gave said person pulling out would not have expected you to be going so fast and your stopping distance would have increased by around 12 meters as well (assuming you are doing 5mph over the 70mph limit). Not to mention that the ability to swerve out of the way in a controlled manor will be much reduced while braking from the higher speed. You were braking the law by speeding and cannot claim that you were innocent, because they were not the only ones who broke the law and they are not the only ones that put others at risk. Therefore yes, you are automatically partly to blame because you broke the rules, just because someone broke the rules more than you doesn't make your rule braking fine. If dude/dudet 1 killed 5 innocent guys/gals and dude/dudet 2 killed one innocent guy/gal at a mass shooting dude/dudet 2 isnt let off because they were not the worst offenders. Re: General discussion chat Because gigabit ethernet MAC and PHY chips are both still rather expensive. 17. No restrictions to it, no P plate laws, no curfews. Flat out you can take your drivers test at 17 and be done with it. 16 for a 50cc moped with 4kw power on a provisional drivers license with a CBT certificate increased to 125cc and 11kw at 17. It is fully possible that TheAdmiester has a full drivers license here in the UK. If you are driving on the outside lane on a multiple lane road and going past a point where somebody else merges without checking somebody is trying to merge and while speeding, well thats just stupid. If you have a problem with that, get a dashcam and argue your case in court or something.
Re: General discussion chat I don't have it yet, but you're right of course. I started in late October doing them off and on. I'm probably about halfway towards being deemed good enough for the test, so I probably will be legally driving before 18.
Re: General discussion chat I got my permit today. In 6 months I'll have my class 2 restricted license (basically unrestricted) if I don't have a wreck, and in 12 I'll have a full one.

Re: General discussion chat Whatever your great idea is, if you take apart a perfectly good BMW for the engine I will hate you. As it's been said before, if you only want an engine just get a wrecked car with a good engine. You'll get a much better engine for the money.
Re: General discussion chat Literally all you have to do is obtain your provisional license (literally you send off a form, get it back), sit a theory test (no prerequisites to sit one, just go online and book it with nearest centre or whatever), then you have 2 years before the theory test certificate expires, at any time during that you can take the practical test and be done with it. You dont even have to have lessons inbetween. You don't "apply" for L plates. If you are driving in a car with a provisional license (like with a parent or driving instructor) you have to have the L plates is all, they are a fiver in any garage. P plates are available in garages, there is no law requiring them whatsoever.
Re: General discussion chat Nope. You get a provisional at age 17 then decide what you want to do. You can legally drive a car as long as you're supervised by someone who passed over 3 years ago. As for learning to drive, the average amount of driving lessons someone goes through in the UK before being ready for their test is around 30 hours. So if you had the money and time to do 5 hours a week, you could be a legal driver 6 weeks after you turned 17 if you did well.

Re: General discussion chat Well, the clean licence would be a given but I've never heard the over 25 one. Just checked the gov.uk site and it says they have to be over 21. So if they passed at 18, in 3 years time they can be supervising you.

My only question is: Is the sound quality on professional headphones much better? I'm talking about £80 headphones max. If the sound is much better I might get plain headphones, but a microphone is convenient.

Re: General discussion chat Those have nice quality as long as you have a good sound source. They will easily be limited by onboard sound long before a higher-end set would make a difference. They use the same drivers as the G35 and G930, just the G35 uses USB and the G930 is wireless. That one obviously uses USB or 3.5mm.
Re: General discussion chat I can almost guarantee the first time I go to drive my tuck in the snow, I'm gonna put it into a ditch. Did it to my Corolla, and there wasn't even that much snow on the road and it's FWD. Need to go buy some sandbags and shove them in the bed. Studded tires are also legal in Ohio until, like, May. Might get some of those as well. WAIT! I have some left over bricks shoved somewhere in the woods behind my house, I'll use those! They're heavy, they'll give me traction... They'll ruin my already kinda sucky fuel economy.
Re: General discussion chat I have now spent a considerable amount of time with jailbroken IOS and rooted Android. I actually somewhat prefer IOS jailbreaking because of Cydia. It's been there so long and it's basically the one-stop shop for tweaks of every kind. On Android, it's hard to find a proper theme or add-on to your device without looking for a while. Anybody have ROM or tweak recommendations? I'm currently using Cyanogenmod.
