More like a range box after the transmission, you use it as direct drive from 1st to 3rd, and at 3rd, you can engage it and get a fourth gear. Although, if the overdrive is very long, you could engage it and shift back to 2nd, getting 2 extra gears (1DD > 2DD > 3DD > 3OD or 1DD > 2DD > 3DD > 2OD > 3OD).
ahh i understand, but after reading into the borg warner one a bit now it would engage overdrive when releasing the throttle a bit which i don't think i can do (if i understood that correctly) but i could use the regular hi-low rangebox mechanic for overdrive, like md-series does

If anything that would be better 'cause the real R10 borg-warners have a weird relay that engages overdrive at certain speeds based how fast the distributor is turning so A regular Hi-Lo range box should be easier to code and be more practical, and that's what my bother is trying to do with his old Ford that has the same trans and overdrive system. Just a toggle switch that turns overdrive on when the switch is on.
And if it helps: the transmission is pretty much the same as a semi truck's trans except the transfer case is built into the transmission; so if you were to leave overdrive off: it will be the same as a 3-speed borg-warner t86: First-2.85:1, second-1.65:1, third-1:1, but if you were to Twin-Stick it like a semi truck, you will have 6 forward gears First-2.85:1-DD Second-2-42:1-OD Third-1.65:1-DD Forth-1.34:1-OD Fifth-1:1-DD, And Sixth 0.70-OD (This is just an example because nobody knows what the actual ratios are but you get the idea).
Are ceeped versions of the more modern vanilla engines from the d-series planned? It would make sense since you would need to do ceeped versions of them for the BX.
