People are messaging me, and they seem to think I am keeping the next updates private because my ego is hurt. Others are saddened that future updates are not public anymore. I will address some of those messages here. I know that 99.9% of people don't reupload, but it only takes 1 person to reupload the update onto mass traffic sites; eventually it will be forever downloaded from those sites more than it is on here where the proper credits are listed. This is partially due to Youtubers doing crash videos or reviews that don't care about the politics of mod creation. It is frustrating when people post vids on Youtube and they link the mod to a site that stole it. I've asked those channels to change it to the official release, which almost all of them have. An example is Modland. They have a more streamlined mod page with pictures, lack of real moderation and you don't need an account to comment. People are lazy and Modland has a better and more eye-catching site due to the many different mods you can get on there. Most of them are leaks or reuploads that lack credits and are low quality meshslaps, but the average BeamNG player doesn't care; they just want a cool mod and do not care where it comes from or who made it/worked on it. Sad part is I cannot compete and if I release another update, it will be reuploaded onto other sites and it will probably lack proper credits. Soon the majority of people will be downloading the improperly credited updates from other sites. It is disrespectful to me and the people who made the assets/worked on the release. It is not sustainable, and I cannot just look the other way. It's not right. So, I am keeping it private, at least for now even though it breaks my heart. All the effort I've put into this so that the community could enjoy it is being wasted. I didn't come to this decision without giving it a lot of thought, so just know it sucks for me just as much as you. But that is the way of the beast, I guess.
New status: Update is coming at some point. I've managed to figure a way to include credits regardless of where it is uploaded. Now, I've to implement it. Still no release date.
I'm glad you've at least found a possible solution to that issue! And I'm glad you're gonna publicly update it. Kinda having some issues with mine. I think I remember you saying you added dynamic mirrors(I may have misread...), but the mirrors are always black for me, like no reflection. Also, for some reason, I can't see through the windshield on one of the configs(forgot which one, been a few days, but I can let you know when I hop back in). I can see inside from outside, but not vice-versa. Any ideas? Sorry for the long-ish message. Just glad this is possibly back! Keep up the great work!
Try deleting all the cache for the cars and restarting the game. Sometimes the previous car you load up will share similar classnames or some crap and they will conflict with the textures, bodyparts/groups, causing missing textures or messed up textures. I've experienced the multiple body parts that don't belong on the car issue, but never experienced the unable-to-see-through-windshield-texture issue, and you are the first to report it. --- Post updated --- Wouldn't do any good. We're gonna try this method. It requires modification of the files to change. They would have to put some effort in to find where to remove the message where the credits are, and I bet most will not bother. I've realized people are so unobservant and don't read half the shit I write anyway, let alone on the front page where I put the credits. I'm not going to go into detail where it will be, but I will say the credits will be visible from the car selection screen.
Oh and try to make sure you have deleted all previous versions of the car. As for the mirrors, they are not dynamic in the public release. My unreleased version has dynamic mirrors, along with other tweaks.
Last reply. Try deleting the file in your directory right now, redownload and reinstall if the above doesn't help. If it still is screwed up, try updating to 0.33, if you haven't already. Other than that, I've nothing. The car works great for me.
Get excited. Me and Velocity of Project Acadamy (Look it up, it's automation mods done right) are working on the suspension of the cars, so they handle better around a track and on the road. So far, the Track Attack config and the Stock config handle better around a track. More testing is still on going. The goal is to get the cars easier to drive and not so temperamental on the road, but still challenging if that makes sense. I never even realized how off the suspension settings were until Velocity offered some advice and offered to help if and when he has time.
I'm really sorry for asking, but would it be possible to add some ABS (and maybe TCS)? I'm a keyboard driver and it's a handful lol
Yes, but also no. The stock car weighs 1250KG and makes almost 500HP and then the LM Spec weighs a hair under 1030KG and makes 720HP in restricted guise and 1000HP in unlocked guise. The car is supposed to be a handful. If I added electronic restrictions the car wouldn't feel as raw, and you don't get the same feel of the car. Try driving with the electronic aids enabled on the Civetta Scintilla, then turn off all the aids. You will see what I mean. There is a reason race car drivers drive with no driving aids. I would invest in a cheap $15-$20 knockoff Xbox controller that works. I personally use a PS3 controller with SCP Toolkit running in the background.
I don't have a direct-drive steering wheel - or any wheel for that matter - so I haven't done testing on it, but I would think it would be fine? All of the suspension is based off the Civetta Bolide from 2015. I've gotta tune the suspension for next release. The Track Attack config I think is all sorted - it drives MUCH better and my track times have dropped about 4-8 seconds depending on the track.
I cannot tell if you are serious, but that is weird because I can drive all the variants fine on controller. I assume a steering wheel would be similar. --- Post updated --- In what way? Driving experience aimed without driver aids, rather than a collision sim for making YouTube short brain rot?
