When you export a jbeam file from Blender, it only overwrites the original file that was imported, it doesnt make a new file anywhere
it definitely does, the file will be the exact same one you imported, thats how the exporter works, so if it doesnt make any changes to the file you might not have the addon installed properly or are using the wrong Blender version
when you export a file in blender, a menu will show up, and where you choose to export it and what you choose to name it, is where it will export and what it will be named.
Im gonna go through this visually since you dont seem to understand me lol. The file with an arrow pointing at it is what Ive imported When I press export, no menu will pop up, it will simply say "Exported JBeam parts to disk:", as such This will OVERWRITE the original file that was imported, NOT make a new one anywhere, e.g. the file with the arrow pointing at it is the file that will be edited by the exporter --- Post updated --- This is literally how the exporter works, so like i said, if it doesnt overwrite the original file, then you most likely dont have the addon installed properly or are using the wrong version of Blender
i just tested it myself, and it works fine. i import a jbeam file, modify it, and export it in say my "documents" folder. it's there in my documents folder, complete. i can also choose to overwrite as mentioned in the post prior. either should work. i am using it with blender 3.5. not sure if it works with other versions.
Oh nice that doesnt happen for me, there must be different versions of the addon or something cos i cant choose an export destination, it just overwrites. Im on Blender 4.2. Hopefully one of our solutions works anyway tho lol
i haven't checked if it's been updated since i downloaded it a while ago, so it's possible my response is no longer correct.. if it is helpful, i can go through and post which version i have.
