    Hi.

I'm not sure why I am really making this thread, much less if it's even in the right place.

    But I guess here goes.

I have acquired a 3D model of a 1962 Jeep J-200 pickup from Sketchup's 3D Warehouse from this kind fellow-
    https://3dwarehouse.sketchup.com/model/cac64890-7636-411f-ab1e-7acac4ffa833/1965-Jeep-Gladoator

(I just recently got an old Jeep like that IRL, and I gotta be honest, they are awesome trucks.)

Now I needed something to do with it. Attempt to put it in BeamNG, even though I suck at computers? Yeah, why not? I know I have to somehow get the model to Blender, do texturing things, do JBEAM stuff that I can't even comprehend, and do coding probably, and alot of other things I don't know how to do. Oh, and I'm trying to do this all for free, too.

So step 1- Move the model from Sketchup to Blender. Astonishingly, not too hard. I downloaded it as an .stl file I believe, uploaded it to some kind of software on my computer called "3D Builder," then scaled it down and flipped it to the right orientation in there, and then finally downloaded it as an .obj file. From there I simply uploaded it into Blender and tada! It's there.

Step 2- However, it was uploaded as only one part. So, to solve this, I spent the rest of my day separating every component on the Jeep in Sketchup, and doing the same process over and over again to get the whole truck in multiple parts in Blender. I still have some to do, but they can wait. I had to do around 40 different parts. Finally, at midnight, it was done. It looks great.

Step 3- Missing parts. The model on Sketchup did not have seats, or a steering wheel, or a shifter. So I took the Gavril Bluebuck .dae, opened that, took the front bench seat, and slapped it in the Jeep. It fit like a glove. I also took the steering wheel, turn signal lever, and the steering column from the Bluebuck. Then I pulled up the D-Series and took a manual shifter and put that in the Jeep as well. It's now done.

    Here's a bunch of photos.

    Now that's all I've done.

I have, however, made a folder in repo/mods/unpacked called J-Series and loaded it with my .dae of the Jeep, and a bunch of "textures," I guess? A bunch of .mtl files with a Gimp icon were magically downloaded every time I downloaded the .obj from 3D Builder, so that's what I'm guessing they are.

I took a bunch of JBEAM files from Beamng.drive/content/vehicles/pickup/vehciles/pickup and put them in there as well and renamed them and some things in them according to what I have named in the Jeep's model.

Nothing works, big surprise. Just about the only thing I'm really proud of and confident in is the Blender model (even though it's not 100% done, but close enough).

(This screenshot is not of the specific file in repo/mods/unpacked it's just a copy/backup I put in my downloads section)
    Screenshot31-12-2023162703.jpg

And that's really all I had to say.

What are your thoughts? Does anyone have info/tips to maybe get the thing in the game? Does anyone want to take over from here? Does anyone just want to laugh at my abilities on a computer? Does anyone even like the old J-Pickups anymore? Does anyone want a Jeep like this in-game?

So I'm just gonna leave this here. I'm fairly active on here so if you decide to ask me something in the replies, I'll most likely answer. I turned on E-mail notifications as well, so there's an even better chance of me replying.

I personally think it would be really cool to bring this truck in the game, but unfortunately my skill set and learning abilities are better with the real deal, not a computer. So I'm probably never finishing this thing (unless one of you has some kind of magical tutorial for dummies, that might work but I dunno), so don't get your hopes up if you came here looking to get this mod. Because it's not a mod. It's just a thing I decided to share and get opinions from.

So, um, thank you for your time to read this, and be nice in the replies. Don't say things like "oh, you're an idiot thats not how you do it, this is a usless post, that truck is ugly, etc, etc, etc." Respect the forum rules, guys. From reading other forums I can see some people get angry at certain threads for some reason. So if you have something to say that really doesn't need to be said, don't say it.

I'll gladly take constructive, kind, criticism, though.

    Thanks.

I wouldn't call my self a genius when it comes to them, but since I got my '63 J-200, I am learning alot. It has the amazing 230 OHC Tornado Inline-6 (which I learned that it was the only OHC motor being mass produced at the time) paired with the 3 on the floor transmission, 4wd hi+lo. Man, I love that old thing. I got it running the other day and it was great.

Yep, I am pretty sure those were bulletproof too. I am pretty good at making engine mods so if you need help I can probably do that

    a: he's not being rude
b: "bumping" a thread is when you reply to a thread that hasnt been replied to for a very long time, thus "bumping" it to the top of the new posts section

Unfortunately it's not going, lol. Honestly I haven't been active for the better part of the year because I've been working on getting my irl jeep on the road. Don't get me wrong though, I'd still love to have this truck in the game, just I'm not going to be the one to do it. When it comes to computers I'm like an 80 year old man lol. If you can do it or know anyone who can do it I can try to supply you with the Blender file (that is if I still know where to find it lol). Thanks for the reply, and I'm not worried about you bumping the thread or whatever. I'm just glad to see more interest in an old FSJ for the game!

Here's a pic of my IRL Jeep, mid restoration process (it is the thrift side bed, so more like the tremors truck than the model)

Same here. AMC is great, they had so many innovations that are commonplace now, but groundbreaking then. And they never got (or even get) the attention they deserved.
I mean, I would know, I have an AMC Eagle, which was one of their bigger ones.

I remember you talking about that. I want to find one of the Eagle Turbo-diesels but I have a higher chance of falling down a flight of stairs and landing on my two feet.

Yeah, I would absolutely love to own one, but they made seven, and there's only one known survivor. And it doesn't run.

Hey, I was just wondering about the jeep J-truck model. Was the file good for you to work with?
