merry christmas everyone i was thinking, we're overdue for a n refresh/remaster of an car and my candidate is the sunburst and/or miramar for the next. simply the i-series got gambler parts, the pessima, sbr and grand marshel got tunig parts, the pickle got buggy configs, the legran was remastered when the wendover got introduced, the hopper got an pbr interrior. therefore the only cars that have seen little to none updaes are the gavril barstow + bluebuck and the bruckell moonhawk. since we're apparantly getting rally themed updates bc we've got the new mode. i just rememberred that the burnside is also a perfect fit since we got the nine
We usually get a remastered vehicle for spring updates. My picks are the Ibishu Miramar or the Burnside Special if they are continuing the theme of old/classic vehicles, plus both of them only have 7 configurations each if I remember correctly. The last real content we got for the Burnside was in 0.13 with the taxi version, and 0.8 added the custom/drag versions. The Miramar got the updated drift version with a couple of new parts more recently. Otherwise, it has also been pretty neglected for 8 years. Both the Bruckell Moonhawk and the Hirochi Sunburst need extensive work and would benefit if they get a full remake, although it would take more time if they do.
Both the Miramar and Burnside have 8 configurations, but yeah, they're really lacking for content. As I noted in this post, the devs tend to establish trends for updates in the next year with the holiday release. I'll also add that certain brands tend to be the focus for each year: -0.15-0.17.1: 1 new brand (Autobello); Hirochi (eSBR and Sunburst in 0.16) and Gavril (H-Series/Roamer in 0.16, Bluebuck in 0.17/Grand Marshal remaster in 0.17.1) also getting major attention. -0.18-0.20: 1 new brand (Cherrier); Gavril once again getting major attention (three D/H/Roamer remasters). -0.21-0.23: 1 new brand (Soliad); Gavril once again got major attention (D-Series remaster part 2), with Ibishu (Pigeon remaster, Wigeon) and Bruckell (LeGran remaster) also receiving new stuff. -0.24-0.26: No new brands; Gavril got only one remaster (H-Series), with Civetta (Bolide remaster, Scintilla), Ibishu ('96 Pessima/Covet remasters), and Bruckell (Bastion) getting more of the limelight. -0.27-0.30: 2 new brands (SP, FPU). ETK (K/800 refresh), Soliad (Lansdale), Hirochi (Aurata), and Autobello (Autobuggy, Stambecco) received major focus, along with new trailers. -0.31-0.33: No new brands. Gavril (MD-Series, T-Series remasters) and Ibishu (200BX remaster, '88 Pessima parts) received major focus, with new trailers and some SBR4 parts. It seems like the devs like to flip-flop from focusing on the bigger brands (Gavril/Ibishu) to focusing on the smaller brands (pretty much everyone else, although Bruckell/Soliad is now up to six vehicles). This is true even as far back as the 0.4-0.9 era, with two new brands being introduced in that period ('96 Pessima, SBR4, Barstow, '88 Pessima, Burnside, 800, Miramar, K-Series, I-Series, LeGran, Hopper). Considering 0.31-0.33 was pretty much entirely Gavril/Ibishu, and with the new vehicle for 0.34 being a Bruckell (and more focus on drag racing), I feel like next year would be our best bet yet to see the long-awaited Moonhawk remaster. Ibishu content tends to be more spread out (with the exception of 0.23-0.26), so I still think that a Miramar remaster could happen next year, as well. With it being a "small-brand year" and with greater focus on rallying, we might also see the Sunburst finally get a remaster - Hirochi hasn't had much significant since the Aurata (or the eSBR, if passenger cars are all you care about). I don't think we'll see the Barstow or Bluebuck get any attention next year - unfortunately, that also means that the Burnside might not get a remaster, either (although I think it has more of a chance than the other two). The MD-Series probably will get some stuff for 0.35 if the DT40L gets a remaster next year, but other than that, 2025 likely will be quite Gavril-free, like from 0.24.1-0.30. As for the other smaller brands... -There wasn't much off-road focus in 0.34 (besides rallying), so not much of a chance of new SPs or FPUs (or new off-road buggies in general). -ETK had two refreshes in 0.28 and new stuff for the I-Series in 0.32, so...probably not anything from them, either. -Civetta, probably not, either - the Bolide recently got remastered (and had Gambler content in 0.29), and the Scintilla doesn't really need one. -Autobello is confirmed to be a post-war brand (established in 1948), and it got a smattering of content in 0.27-0.29 (Autobuggy/Stambecco, Gambler Picco, SBR4 engines, more parts), so I don't think they'd be getting anything next year. -Cherrier hasn't had squat since their debut in 0.19, and I don't think the FCV would receive a remaster any time soon. With a new focus on rallying, I feel like they'd be a good candidate for a new car. Maybe another pre-war or pre-1975 car? -Wentward would also be a good candidate for a remaster next year, to coincide with the increased focus on bus mode. I don't think they'd get a new vehicle, though - the utility updates have likely almost ended for now. -I don't know if we'll get any new brands next year. The last new brands we received were SP and FPU, and the last passenger-car-oriented brand was Soliad in 2021. It looks like the devs are preferring to beef up the lineups of the current brands than introduce new ones, which I think is a good strategy. There's still some gaps in the line-up in terms of nationality (no brands from England or Sweden, for instance), but I don't think we'll see those filled for a while.
I think it's perfectly fine, as well - it's certainly in far better shape than the Moonhawk or Sunburst (both of which look really old) and it's got plenty of content compared to the Burnside or Miramar. It could get some more stuff, but I'd prefer the devs bring up the cars that are really lacking.
But it just doesn't look right. The front end could really use a redesign, I think. With like floating headlights in a much larger grille. The bumpers are also way big. There's just something off about it. In detail here.
From a styling standpoint, I could see why you'd want a remaster. From a technical standpoint, though, the Bluebuck's fine, IMO - it's way better off in terms of textures, content, and Jbeam than the Moonhawk, Sunburst, Miramar, and Burnside. I don't think we'll be seeing too many major changes to styling or size for vehicles anymore, though, after what happened in 0.16 (I remember the massive riots that happened over the Sunburst and 800 Series redesigns, and how many people were mad their mods got broken for those changes). The BX remaster didn't really change much for the 200BX's styling, the K/800's styling barely changed in their refreshes, the Covet got a mild reproportion in its remaster, the Bolide also got a mild reproportion (although it was slightly larger than the Covet's), the remastered '96 Pessima barely looks any different from its pre-remaster version, the LeGran got a much better interior (but doesn't look much different from the outside), and the Grand Marshal didn't even get updated textures for its remaster. I can understand the feeling, though - I was hoping that the Burnside would be made longer in its remaster for a while to make a true Imperial-style luxo-barge out of it, but I don't think that's happening, either.
Still not over 30K just yet (at least, not "officially"), but wow, is that close. It's almost 1,000 players more than the last peak (22 Sept 2024, four days after the release of 0.33).
As far as the spring update... Generally the spring update is a smaller one, it's honestly possible we might only see the missing MD content. It certainly would be nice to get a remaster as well though, it's been awhile. Hopefully we will keep seeing more of the body kits we have been seeing lately, I've been loving those. I'd love to see them start doing kits with other themes once they finish any more planned tuner kits. DTM inspired kits? As far as the Bluebuck goes... Quality wise the thing holds up well, even for content it's not in a bad place at all. I know that technically the front end styling doesn't really fit the era and usually I am a stickler for stuff like that, but I don't really mind the discrepancy this time. Honestly I like how it looks. It definitely needs a wagon body style, and it needs a convertible as much as anything else in game does. The only other thing that would make sense is a sport coupe. On one hand we have 2 coupe BX's, on the other we didn't get a 3 window Bruckelll Model 9. So who knows if the team would think a sport coupe Bluebuck is worth it. There are a few options for major facelifts and platform cousins, especially taking inspiration from Ford since there was some really interesting stuff on the Galaxie platform at this time. But that's a different discussion all together, and the X-frame does limit it since that would have only been in use for a few years (1959-1964 for the IRL counterpart). I can't really think of any major factory content it needs. The one thing I can think of would be a reference to the Chevy COPO cars like the Impala Z-11. As far as aftermarket content goes, basically all the old muscle cars are in the same boat, though the Bluebuck at least has a better drag config than the others and has a proper contemporary track config. Resto-mod parts, drag wings, fiberglass front clips, lightweight glass, tubbed rear ends, etc... Personally I'd love to see an AWB drag car. AFAIK all of those cars IRL were compact or midsized, but the Bluebuck is as close as we have in game and it would be cool to get one.
Generally, yes, but I think that 0.35 would be a good update to end the utility update cycle with - we've had utility-vehicle-focused update cycles go on for five updates before (D/H/Roamer remasters, 0.18-0.21 and 0.24), and we've had a remaster and new vehicle drop in the same update before in the spring (Wendover/LeGran) and two remasters in the spring (BX/T-Series Part 2). If the missing stuff for the MD-Series was already being worked on while the Nine was being made, but it just wasn't finished in time for 0.34, then I could see the devs having enough time to work on a DT40L remaster and the missing MD-Series stuff to finish the utility updates in 0.35. Yeah, I don't really see the Bluebuck getting a facelift...but a pre-facelift version from the late-'50s or very-early-'60s would be neat to see. I don't think that would happen, either, as that's kinda reaching "new car" territory. To be honest, one trend that's been going on since 0.15 is that the devs tend to make new cars, and then...not touch them for a long, long while. The Picco was released in 0.15, and only received major new content in 0.29 as part of the Gambler update. The Bluebuck, FCV, Wendover, Wigeon, Scintilla, and 0.27 cars haven't really gotten much/anything new since they released. (The Aurata and MD-Series are a bit too new for me to want to count them in this discussion.) In the past, that wasn't quite the case - usually, new cars would get some additional content in a future update within about a year or so, if not less (SBR4 and '88 Pessima getting hillclimb parts less than a year after they released, '88 Pessima receiving a smattering of new tuning parts in 0.5.1 (12 days after it dropped), Burnside getting new race/drag parts less than a year after it released, LeGran getting new parts in 0.9, Hopper getting a bunch of new parts in 0.9.0.x and 0.10, etc). But I guess the devs have decided not to spread out content for vehicles over many updates, instead deciding to just send them all in one. Which is nice, but it also means that outside of remasters or the Gambler update (and the recent bodykits some cars have been getting), new content for vehicles doesn't tend to get added. Which is why I can understand the constant calls for remasters for cars which probably don't need them (Piccolina, FCV, Wendover, etc.), because that's pretty much the only way that people can get more official stuff for the cars they like. I kinda see the bodykits for the '88 Pessima, SBR4, and Grand Marshal as a "return to form", to the 0.4-0.9 days when the Covet would get a new bodykit or the Pigeon would receive a new canopy box and fender flares. I guess that means that those vehicles aren't getting remastered any time soon, but it is nice to be able to do more things to them officially.
Devs were planing to make many vehicles, even destructible map objects & crash test dummies in BeamNG, back then in the CryEngine3 video.
I find the bluebuck overall fine. It's missing things sure but it's held up very well. The only major thing that should be done is a interior update.
