Re: General discussion chat Thanks, realized it just after I tried to cram a large PSU into a extremely small case, probably just going to buy a new case, a better motherboard, and then use that PSU. I'm just going to scavenge for other parts from my current PC because the HDD, video card, processor, and other components are working just fine. Really quite annoying that I'm having to do this, and I'm definitely not going to buy another Acer product for a long time. But I got the old PSU back in and everything's working now. Probably wouldn't have worked out even if it had a 24 pin connector, as the case is way to small for this PSU.
Re: General discussion chat Hm, I have money. Should I buy a 500GB 850-EVO now for $240 or wait for the 2nd best (MX100 and UltraII) to go down to $170...
Re: General discussion chat I'd wait. It's $70 less. What's the difference between the Samsung 840 and 850 series? Is the 850 faster? It's obviously better but I have no idea why.
Re: General discussion chat Just looked it up. There seems to be no read difference between an 840 Evo and 850 Evo, but the 850 has much faster random write because of v-nand.
Re: General discussion chat I don't need random writes much. 840 is $224 while the 850 is $239. The next two (MX100 and ultraII again) are both $215, but a bit slower. I saw them at $169 during new years, maybe it'll go down for MLK day? :\ One is 512GB while the other is 480. I know 500 and 512 can just be branding but does the 512 have ~30GB more?
Re: General discussion chat Got 2 multimeters and a charger you don't mind ripping apart? Sure. Watts = volts * amps. Cut vcc line of charger (dc side, not AC), stick a multimeter set to amps in the gap to measure current. Remove a section of casing on ground line, multimeter set to volts across vcc and ground. Remove laptop battery, it has to run purely from the charger then. Read out multimeter values, simple maths, done. It will be an over estimate though, more accurate would be to cannibalize a battery pack for the same thing.
Re: General discussion chat Also the 840 Non-Pro uses TLC (3 bits per cell), where the 840 PRO uses MLC (2 bits per cell) resulting in longer lifespan and faster access times. 480/500/512 GB is just that. They arent giving out free memory or brand a 480GB device as 512GB vice versa. You buy a 480GB and get 480GB which results in ~447 usable GB after formatting and 512GB being ~476GB.
Re: General discussion chat Last day of chemistry, had a pH test. #bombed #dontknowwhatimdoing #mcdonaldscashier
Re: General discussion chat you should have acid your teacher if a low grade on that test would severely lower your base score.
Re: General discussion chat i486 SX? Just kidding, but you can try to remove the HDD metal support, and you get more place for larger PSU....
Re: General discussion chat Just had a 2 hour 15 min maths test. I was running into health issues at the end. Now in quite a bit of pain, But at least i didnt pass out. - - - Updated - - - Nice...
Re: General discussion chat Australia is becoming much like Germany in terms of game censorship. Still, game banned? arr arr motherfucker. Fun fact: In the japanese version of Fallout 3, you didn't have the option to detonate the nuclear bomb in Megaton, for pretty obvious reasons. You could only disarm it.
Re: General discussion chat that's actually what the developer of HM2 told australians to do: http://www.reddit.com/r/pcmasterrace/comments/2si0b2/i_contacted_jonatan_söderström_hotline_miami_2/ and image:
