There's a disclaimer at the start of the article saying that his "NSFW" series of articles are all essentially just ramblings mainly about tech stuff. It's essentially a blog, so him being a Mac user on what seems to be a Mac-centric site posting a little personal blog about his son switching away seems appropriate.

He's a journalist and a writer. Its his job to make things more dramatic and translate them into text in an entertaining manner. Hyperbole is a tactic that many journalists employ to help make their work more interesting.

3 monitors on an AMD card can't be done. It just can't. I'm done. I should have bought an Nvidia card. There is no useless eyefinity shit. It doesn't work. It keeps disconnecting the same monitor no matter which one I hook up while it's connected. Catalyst can't detect it, Windows won't detect it. It's not the one monitor, it's whichever one is plugged in (so, like, I've tried 2 different monitors). Someone kick the stool out from under me. Put me out of my misery. This is it, I'm done. Nope. Nope. Nope.

    Cocka-doodle-doo the cow says moo.

You need to use displayport for the third monitor to work AFAIK.

My main monitor is using a displayport to DVi adapter. AMD confirms that this is using a DisplayPort connection.

Actually, I'd try to help, but my multi-monitor experience is none.

Just read Apple might ditch intel for their own ARM CPUs.

well, that's one way to truly make macs completely useless for gaming at all (unless you count mobile games from the mac app store)

    Re: General discussion chat

I think 2 monitors actually have to go on the dual link dvi port (dvi-d) for an amd GPU to run triple output.
But hey, for me that's just more nvidia superiority. Although my nvidia card doesn't have displayport, it has DVI-D, DVI-I and mini HDMI.

Apple switching to arm for their laptops and desktops is an old rumour. A hilarious one at that. Although with modern ARM, its perhaps not that stupid, cortex A-15 is faster than Intel clover trail clock for clock (previous gen atom, I don't know how a15 compares to the significantly faster bay trail) although that is rather common for a RISC design. The 64 bit ARM cores are even faster than the A15, this is due to many other architecture changes and not just that its 64 bit (that change alone makes little difference). If someone would produce them a quad or even octacore ARM chip running at a decent clock speed, they might have something usable. Some of the bigger and more beastly arm cores even have PCI and multiple sata interfaces (some of those even 6gb/s ones).
