The front suspension links/knuckle etc. on the "pro" baja versions of the Piccolina are laughably terrible, especially considering they are supposed to be something worthy of "Baja" being in the title, which would imply that somehow this vehicle would stand a chance in a real Baja race. I love nearly everything about the offroad Piccolina variants, but the Achilles heel is definitely the front suspension. The rear seems to be pretty solid, but I'd go so far as to say that the front suspension is one of, if not the absolute weakest of all the suspensions of all the cars and variants in the entire game. It is seriously spaghetti noodles. To clarify there are two major issues here: 1. The front wheels snap at the knuckle WAY too easily on even the mildest of jumps, and flexes HEAVILY in turns, to the extent that you can even snap/bend it with centrifugal force in some situations. 2. The lateral links bend way too easily, making the front end lose alignment after only a couple small bumps/jumps. I suggest making the lateral links somewhere in the neighborhood of twice as thick/strong as they currently are, as well as beefing up the knuckle a bit so that the suspension doesn't snap so easily. The front suspension is seriously holding back the potential of an otherwise amazing machine. This problem essentially renders the unlimited/extreme variants completely unusable, as they are simply just too fast for their front suspension to handle. Please. PLEASE fix this <3
It seems like at least some of the issue is that the lateral links will pop forward on hard landings sometimes. You can almost completely fix it sometimes (sometimes the alignment is still off) by physically pulling the wheel back into place but regardless, whether the parts are bending/snapping (the wheel definitely still breaks at the knuckle too easily) or it's the links popping out of place, it's definitely a problem that needs fixing, that is currently a scourge on what could be an amazing vehicle please fix
you could always try make the suspension stiffer to handle bigger jumps better because it could be the tune playing into the issue as well
its just the overall design/suspension geometry And stiffening the suspension makes the problem worse since it just puts more stress on the wet noodle links
NO, not necessarily. stiffer suspension can help decrease the load under bottoming out (which is likely the cause of the issue) and it is better to have it not bottom out at all but, what do I know I have only been tuning suspension for 3 years now
I understand this concept, you are not the only one who knows how to tune suspension. But due to the design of this suspension, this is not the case. It just serves to transfer more of the load to the links/knuckle in this case
Trust me on Trust me l, I have tried stiffening the front bypass and it does help a lot --- Post updated --- Trust me on Trust me l, I have tried stiffening the front bypass and it does help a lot --- Post updated ---
