That is a recipe for 100% reliable low ping gaming fun... An even better one is to have a single router that some isp gave you with your internet connection 6 or 7 years ago and get everyone to wirelessly connect to it at once (using their phones and usb tethering for those without wifi). The second method is even more reliable than the first
Re: General discussion chat Actually in fairness. I do have an old ISP router with wifi. That might be a better solution than the 2811, the 2811 would literally only be used for DHCP which the ISP router can do, plus it does then offer us wifi. Turns out the 2960 also doesnt support aggregation, but having checked with somebody else we apparently have 22 terminals so that actually allows us to simply use the 1 switch with *a* DHCP server of some sort (a pi can also take on this role). But yes. Somebody will blame the setup for the lag. I've played quake on worse though. We have the benefit here of there being zero other network traffic. I've played it on a huge LAN with multiple switches between each player without issue. Wouldnt call it best on the market. 2811 is an end of life product. 2960's aren't the cutting edge option (for example you can get cisco switches with 48 gigabit ports, we have 24 10/100 ports, some of them have fiber uplink too rather than gigabit, 10/100 or even no uplinks). Better than what most people have though, certainly.
