--to start, this isn't a complete mod, it's just a tech demo type thing. It serves 3 purposes; 1) show devs what we'd probably prefer instead of a solid list of text 2) to share the idea, and anyone can take this, and do the rest of the work 3) to show off a cool thing I did (okay, maybe not that cool, but it's on the limits of my skills) you can play around with this as much as you like, you can take the mod and do what you will with it, it's definitely not anywhere near ready for the general public! I only don't allow people to sell work I've done, otherwise have at it! -problems; 1) you'll have to press f5 at some point before using menus 2) any vehicle you spawn without 20" wheels will probably have the wheels pop off 3) the morphs will work on any 20" wheel, but for the mesh to change, it has to be the "Changeling" wheels 4) the switch to 355 work, but not back 5) it's in the old menu system because I couldn't figure out the new Vue3 stuff 6) you have to deactivate BeamMP because we both overwrite some of the same files I hope you like the idea. I'm sorry it's not finished, this was just a tech demo based on a thought I had, and I made it for a video, not generally a thing I'd spend a year making (otherwise I'd go broke and starve lol) edits; Problem #6 fixed a spawning bug due to initiating variables wrong
I fixed an issue that was my initiating some variables as numbers instead of vex3(), so it should be more stable now (probably don't even need these variables anyway tbh). I am pondering a way to make sure it doesn't effect wheels of the wrong size, but I'm having issues with functions happening out of order; currently I have it check wheel diameter first, then I tried to check if it was too small, then I'd use the "return" statement, but it sometimes completes the entire function anyway (for that frame). Anyone know what would be causing that? maybe some weird caching issue?
0:30 "Well, That's Debatable. At best". Someone needs to make that a short YT clip so i can use it everywhere. Sweet mod too! --- Post updated --- Glad your back
the morphing animation seems a lil gimmicky, but the picture menu is definitely a need for this game. great work
kinda agree. The shape change isn't necessary for reducing load times if you take the guess work out of picking wheels. It's more that can be done, and re-loading isn't entirely necessary, giving a smoother user experience. as for installing mods https://documentation.beamng.com/tutorials/mods/installing-mods/
im not sure but that might be it it might just have been my car but i applied the wheels and they fell off
this sounds like you're talking to someone I don't see in the thread? I have listed that anything non-20 inches will pop off, but I've only tested this on the D-series and the bruckle. I found that it's also fine with some smaller wheels, but it's on a case by case thing. You may also look at frame rates. I found if I slowed the game down, or uncapped my frame rate, it was a lot more likely to break. This is definitely due to my lack of skill, if I knew how to change tension on beams properly, I'd have been able to help mitigate those issues...
after installing, wheels randomly combust when first spawning in a map. when respawned works fine, but if i do a hard respawn (or whatever its called) the wheels blow up again. --- Post updated --- mb didnt read the full list of issues
sadly the mod doesn't work at all. on game start i get this error and it doesn't load Ui once i allow mods to start loading. --- Post updated ---
the latest update removed the old menu system, so this version will never work again unless you somehow get a hold of the previous version
