So, according to the descriptions on the documentation site for the 800 Series and I-Series, Knallhart is a tuning company (like Brabus, Koenig, and Hartge, among others). I was under the impression for many years that the Knallhart I-Series (and 800 Series) were just named that for some reason, but it does make sense that they'd be pro-tuner configs.

Excerpt from the 800 Series description:

    and I-Series:

So, why didn't the K-Series receive a Knallhart configuration in its shared refresh with the 800-Series? The vehicle only has 17 configurations right now (which is well below the 800 (29) and I-Series (34)), with the vast majority being factory configurations. One more tuner config wouldn't have been that much more, and if it had used a straight-six (like the 800 and I-Series Knallharts do), that would've added an interesting dynamic with the V8-powered Rennspecht.

I'm not mad about this, I'm just confused. I can understand the I-Series lacking a Rennspecht model, since it hasn't been updated much over the years (unless the Street Tuned is meant to be an older Rennspecht, similar to the Alpina C1 2.3), but I don't get why Knallhart wouldn't tune the K-Series if it's already doing the 800.

My theory is tradition, that Knallhart ONLY tunes sedans. Plus “Knallhart Just Made The World’s Fastest Super-Sedan” sounds like a way better headline to spend R&D on than “Knallhart Made An Even Faster Kc6”.

That would make sense - there isn't a Knallhart wagon 800, for instance. It's also likely easier to sell a high-powered sedan than a high-powered coupe.

    Still, I wouldn't mind seeing a pro-tuned 6-cylinder K-Series or 800 wagon - perhaps from another tuning company.
