Hello! I know this is annoying that this is probably like the 4th thread created for the same mod, but I feel the others aren't as useful now that they have lots of comments not related to current progress of the mod. That is why this one is here. Before you guys respond, please read the WHOLE post, and please don't respond with things like "looks good" and "cant wait". If you are going to respond, please do so with feedback on what could be changed to make the mod more realistic. This mod will be WIP for a bit longer, as I need to add a lot of features before even an early access release. Current progress: Green: Done Orange: In Progress Red: Not Started Model: Exterior Interior Textures Modifications Jbeam: Main Fuselage Wings Tail Landing Gear Control Surfaces Interior Cockpit Engines Lights Credits: Me(@jgb ) Main Jbeam, Model Modifications, and LUA. @Happyhusky : Model Modifications. @Baconzez Jbeam and LUA assistance. And many others who I do not know their forum usernames, who have helped me over the years of my modding with anything from simple jbeam issues to complex LUA. I am so happy that I am part of this community and have had the opportunity to create things for the game. Original model from an x plane mod, made by Felis all credits go to him for model, texture, and sound. This mod uses his model with permission from him. Once again, this is a WIP mod, progress is not going to be instant/fast. I am pretty much the only person working on the majority of the jbeam and LUA. I plan to do an early access release once I have a flying version I am ok with, which may or may not include any interior. I will be adding comments with updates when progress is made, and again, PLEASE, do not reply with stuff that will not help with the creation of the mod, and that will only make it more difficult to find feedback.
Engines with functional turbines, left, right, and center, are added and working. Plane can now takeoff, fly, and land with its own power without thrusters. Flaps have also been added, albeit without the smaller details such as slats/spoilers or whatever they are called. Besides issues with ailerons at higher speeds the plane is functionally there!
Omfg im so looking forward to these more turbine driven jets. Smaller ones to.... Any advice for coding one of these?
not really anything with lua code, just jbeam, rotators and powertrain. It really is just a propeller hidden inside a casing, but that so far as ive found is one of the most realistic ways to fake a jet in beam without using thrusters. Thrusters have issues though, you can infinitely gain speed with them so even a simple fake is better.
Good job! What livery's will you put on? And are you creating this from scratch? If so, Double good job.
Hey I know it's a niche kinda thing but when designing the controls, can you please add axis controls so you can hook it up with a joystick or controller? Kinda like the AN12 and B25
Technically turbofan engines are thrusters.... But having a big fan disc and a replica of the engine blades would make it a lot more realistic. The issue is if the engine takes damage how is it going to shut down... Will the core of the engine just fall out? Will it violently break apart? I don't know how to make that, but I'm still looking forward to how this plays out and how these mods get developed. Hopefully one day there's a Canon jet in the game. Hopefully one similar to the cirrus vision jet :3
I do not mean thrusters like jet thrusters, I am meaning the thrusters used by some things in jbeam like how the cannon launches the cannon ball lol. If there were realistic thrusters already available it would be much more realistic. Essentially I am making a propeller powered plane disguised as one with jet engines haha. Still better to do it this way however to avoid being able to infinitely accelerate.
Depends, I am not much art wise talented, any liveries would have to be made by someone else --- Post updated --- New model progress, original model was actually taken from an x plane mod who knows how long ago, and who knows how many times it was ripped. The original mod had a fully modeled and textured interior, as well as textures for the exterior. I got permission from the original creator to use said models and textures for this mod, so interior is fully modeled, and I am starting texture adaptation for the current exterior parts i have, as well as starting on small things for the cockpit/interior Normal maps people, normal maps and textures that I am to stupid to make are now in. All thanks and credits for it go to the original creator of the x plane mod!
