It's good for document naming standards. In uni I had a professor who use to require YYYY/MM/DD format for everything and I still default to it.
I just thought it would be quite funny if they captioned the last revealing teaser of sunburst with "for those still in doubt..."
It's for people who are smarter. Metric is easier to learn, meaning it is for dumber people. Imperial is more difficult to learn, meaning that it is for people who have higher intellectual power that they can sacrifice.
A lot of the Imperial vs Metric stuff here is probably just internet people joking around making it a bigger deal than it actually is, like pineapple on pizza or which way the toilet paper hangs. That said, even in The US there's a lot of drinks that are sold with metric, like 2 liter sodas, or half-liter water bottles, 700ml wine bottles, etc because the whole ounces-cups-gallons thing feels like the least intuitive part of the whole imperial system (also so they can use the same bottles internationally). Always annoyed me that there were 2 different measurements for 2 different things both called "ounces"
I don't think 0.35 will be bigger than 0.27. I also don't think 0.27 will be beat content wise atleast for a long while, that much content will be really rare (4.5 new vehicles and a new map and few other things). So far from what we've seen 0.35 will bring us a sunburst remaster, wcusa and hirochi raceway improvements*, new world editor tool and some carrer mode updates. Im sure there will be more that isnt shown, and there is always a lot to an update, but that is pretty standard. Also there is a theory that winter and summer updates are usually bigger / more content rich than spring / fall. I do wonder if we will get a new map soon, as it's been quite a bit since the last map. WCUSA has been getting updates, but nothing too drastic, and most of them seem to be made by krallopian who is a gameplay designer. As they do have dedicated environment artists. * I dont think hirochi raceway will get a remaster, as it has been remaster (been a while tho) and had an PBR update. As the assets look very indentical to what they are currently. So i think its only additions / improvments.
If we're talking new maps or improvements to old maps, I would kill for a remaster of east coast USA. It can show its age in some areas. Does it even have PBR roads yet?
For raw numbers? Probably not. 0.27 had five new vehicles and an all-new map (as well as improvements to EV sim, 31 new missions, significant changes to WCA, and more). In comparison, 0.35 will at least have a remastered car, significant changes to two maps, new content for career mode, and a new building editor. For what people actually use frequently? Quite likely. The Sunburst is one of the most popular vehicles in the game, and having it remastered will make people want to use it even more. WCA and Hirochi Raceway are also popular maps, so having more stuff on them would be appreciated. And, of course, the new "Performance Index" has been a commonly-requested feature. If the SBR gets remastered with the Sunburst, then I could see 0.35 being bigger than 0.27 for what people like using. 0.27 was a very special update, meant to commemorate the tenth anniversary of BeamNG.drive. 0.35, while it will be quite big, isn't going to top 0.27 for content. It's not just a theory - the winter and summer updates usually have a lot of content in them, since that builds up hype (and thus, sales) when the Steam Winter and Summer Sales happens. I think that the devs are focused on improving the current maps to career standards (I was expecting the WCA updates to taper off about a year ago, but that map's still getting updated - and the Hirochi Raceway updates are only confirming this theory). We might not see a new map for a year or two, if not more.
East coast was remastered in 0.17, and pbr and texture improvments were in 0.25 and 0.26. Most outdated map ingame is cliff (no pbr), Other than that probably italy, as it hasn't had a remaster since release (0.15), only pbr (0.26).
So 0.27 was an update to celebrate the game's tenth anniversary? I didn't know, the only thing I thought I liked about this version is because it's the biggest but I never thought it was an update also made to celebrate the anniversary, wow --- Post updated --- but being honest with what you said, it makes sense, there will hardly be a version that manages to be as big as 0.27 to reach the point of surpassing it, it is something that I even doubt will happen, and according to the blog the Johnson Valley map took 7 years to be made and worked on and a lot of research to finish and the map is not small, it is very huge, and the cars in the update appear to be very special with the map
Yeah, here's a quote directly from the devblog post for 0.27: I love 0.27, as well - mostly because it added my favorite vehicle in the game (the Wydra, no joke).
