Figure I should probably post what I posted on YouTube over here too then: Unfortunately, this mod is currently on hold and has been since December. I have lost the interest in continuing this mod, as I've become unhappy with the state that it is in. Whenever I do eventually return to this (Not completely certain on when, or if I will), this mod will be entirely reworked. I apologize for the letdown, and I appreciate the support that you all have given this project. Hopefully this project may either return one day, or be outdone by a superior step van by someone else.
Sad to hear. Wish I was a better modder so I could just offer to try & finish what you've got done on this already.
I think if anyone were to continue working on this, I'd much rather they start it from scratch. You'd get a much better product in the end, I don't find that much is salvageable from this
It looked to me early-on that the .Jbeam was your only huge problem, obviously you can correct me if I'm wrong. Anyway, I can take this thing under my wing if you'd let me, but I'm mega-slow... (I'm only offering because I REALLY like how stepvans look, and I was actually starting to make one myself when you originally released this, so I shelved mine lol)
Never shelve a project just because someone else is working on the same or similar, you never know if the other is going to be crap or just abandoned.
The JBeam definitely was a problem. When I started this project I was still very early to modding, I made some very poor decisions and hardly knew what I was doing. The model itself is another problem. It is very rough and poorly done. One of the main things that demotivated me was that I felt I didn't have great knowledge on step vans, and being a perfectionist I was worried about every little inaccuracy. I appreciate your offer, but I would rather that you create your own as you are more likely to get a better product in the end.
I’m sorry that this project didn’t worked out. Hopefully someday it can be remastered but for now just take the time off and don’t worry about modding.
That's how you learn! I understand dropping your early work though, because eventually enough mistakes pile up that it's actually quite a bit easier to restart than to salvage. I understand that too. All my early models were way-bad because I didn't know anything about Blender... and even if I knew Blender, I didn't understand "ideal" topology. It takes time, and patience, and time, and more time to learn how to do things to your own standards. I feel absolutely the same way lol. If it's a "lore-friendly" build that can just be whatever, it's fine... but a direct replica or an adaptation of a real vehicle? It's gotta be PERFECT or I won't release it lolol... I have no idea why I'm like this, but I agree with you 100% I agree with this too. I only wanted to offer to rescue this one just in case you were disappointed with letting it sit. If you're good with letting it die, I'm good with restarting my version. (Anyone excited, please calm yourselves. I am VERY slow. It may be literal years before I have something release-worthy as I had barely started on the model when I shelved it, so I have like zero progress at the present moment)
