noticed the custom cruiser has buick tailights as an option, also a couple other parts and files pertaining to pontiac and some engines that werent used, does this hint towards more cars being added or are these the only parts being added? --- Post updated --- also is the 403 delta 88 a real thing or just made up?
It's nice to see that such an iconic and feature-rich mod isn't being left to wither on the vine and that there are people actively working to modernise and improve it
Just downloaded this thing, played around with it for a couple of hours, and all I can say is...IT WAS WORTH THE WAIT 100%%%%%, one of the best mods has been made even better.
Things like the front suspension definitely need work, but it's SO GOOD to finally see this thing getting revived properly, huge props to you and the others!
The Buick taillights were on the irl barn find that Vanilla found so I added them to make it accurate, not planning to add a Buick. Not sure what points to a Pontiac? A Parisienne is planned only if someone can model it. Unused engines are for the other cars in the mod and usable as swaps. I saw the 403 Delta 88 on some random forum focused on rendering for some reason, with some dead links provided that didn't even work with wayback machine. It had a 3D model the OP made claiming to be a recreation from newspaper photos. I couldn't find anything at all anywhere to confirm whether it was real, so I just settled on putting in the config description that it's an urban legend.
With the suspension situation, we would need someone to completely remodel it based on blueprints, this will also require modifying the entire front of the frame with the engine and radiator support position, it's a complex issue. And of course retuning all the spring and damper rates. If there is someone willing to do all that please reply
I think it's rather that the car was heavier, the weight was not realistic. Putting the old suspension in right now would still make it too stiff due to the weight difference
I don't know, it feels like the jbeam itself is messed up due to something regarding the geometry, like it has no travel because it's hitting something or something like that I might try to tweak it myself later and see what I can do
Yeah it's modelled wrong and Jbeam is accurate to the model, if we tried to fix it at this stage we would get broken flexbody behavior. The front of the frame is wrong, and everything attached to it
The V6 engine in the base model 88 is too loud and grating in my opinion; unless the Buick V6 had a very unique engine note in real life I think it might be better to use the default V6 engine sound in stock form and save the raspy recorded sound for tuned variants of the motor. Also, removing the air conditioning compressor shouldn't increase the horsepower above the base figure; in real life all but the earliest cars had a clutch that disengaged when the air conditioner was off, and engaging it reduced the power below the normal output.
I've seen 403 88s for sale, so I'm pretty sure they're real. Although these are all (better looking) prefacelift cars.
We can assume the AC is always on, that's why the power increases with the unit removed Yeah but that was the only facelift one apparently, the engine was officially discontinued. This is not the only instance of the police getting officially discontinued engines
