Loving the new refresh, but I have a question:

Is this all we get with the "stripped" interior? I'm a little disappointed since I love building race configs and this interior just feels... weird for a race car.

Honestly a bit dissapointing to see burnside retaining so much clipping for both front and rear doors. I can't add screenshots for some reason.

What do you mean? There are body panels going through each other especially when you open rear doors. Definitely inconsistent with the standards set by newer beamng content. Refresh was a perfect time to rectify that. Too bad it didn’t happen. Just an opinion.

Maybe this is just me but I feel like "Windshield (Affected by Glass Tint") and "Windshield (Not Affected by Glass Tint") should just be "Tintable Windshield" and "Windshield"

Burnside is my favorite vehicle--I've posted a lot in this thread. I'm so happy it finally got attention.

That said--I'm a little disappointed that after all these years, we got a pretty weak "refresh" model. I appreciate the little fender embellishments to give the car proto-tailfins, but it should have been a little more drastic.

Look at the refresh Hudson had in the same time period--1953 vs. 1954

To be fair, since this model is pretty closely aligned to the 1953/54 DeSoto, there were only minor trim changes between the years. But for Burnside lore more could have been done. DeSoto did have a flathead six in 1953-54, but they only had OHV V8s by then. So the Developers took some liberties to have a flathead V8, so they could have taken liberties in the amount of upgrades year-to-year. We didn't even get new hubcaps!

I'm happy they added the two coupe versions, but why no wagon? DeSoto had a 2 door sedans and hardtops, 4-door sedan, station wagons, and a convertible in 1954.

The Burnside has been my default since I got this game. I don't see that changing, but I wish the Devs took some time to poll the audience a little bit more on what the long-time diehard Burnside fanbase would have liked to see.

At this rate, I don't think we'll ever get a real mid-to-late 1950s tailfinned American Land Yacht, so the Burnside needs to do more heavy lifting to span the era to the Bluebuck.

Whats the difference between the 2-door sedan and sport coupe; is it just a renaming?

I think the devs are limiting the game to having just three wagons - at least, it sure seems like it, considering that the '96 Pessima and Miramar also didn't get wagons in their remasters/refreshes. I'm not quite sure why, considering how popular wagon mods are. We got three new coupe bodies in this update alone (technically four, if you count the coupe utility Miramar) - I don't know why we can't get a wagon more than once every four years.

I'm guessing it's because a wagon would be more difficult to make?

We could get a Bluebuck refresh that adds an earlier tailfinned version - if it can be done on the Burnside, it can be done on that car.

More positively, I'm very glad that the 313 V8's finally gotten tuning parts after almost ten years. You can now get it from 189 PS (a bit high for an engine of its type, but not entirely unreasonable, considering the two-barrel 331 FirePower V8 in the Chrysler New Yorker made 183 PS) to 782 PS - which is way bigger than the previous range of just 5 PS.

Also, we finally have a big petrol straight-six that has a tuning range of more than 50 PS! (The 233 goes from 119 to 204 PS.) It took many, many years, but it's happened. I hope that the Barstow, Bluebuck, and Moonhawk's straight-sixes get those tuning parts, as well - I'd love to have a 200-PS straight-six Barstow. Admittedly, the straight-six Barstow isn't as light as it used to be, but it's still the lightest of the live-axle post-war US sedans/coupes.

the only problem I see with this is that up until the oil crisis, manufacturers were updating their cars every year with only 2 or 3 model years for each generation. However, if Gavril just decides to make a new platform every 4 years instead, we'd need only 1 new car if we extend the Bluebuck production back to 1960, and the Special production up to 1955, so a car from 1956-1959 would fit into that gap.

Is the flathead supposed to have higher thermal efficiency than the two stock OHV engines? It's as efficient as the later aftermarket 423 engine, I thought the reason flatheads got phased out is because how inefficient they are.

The fading times of the lights on the Burnside are inconsistent from light to light. For instance, the left front signal behaves normally, where the right front fades out nearly instantly. It is the same with the rear lights, except the left is incorrect and the right is normal.
Compare the left and right signals in this gif:
