BeamNG first official aircraft. A simple light gyrocopter with limited height and speed. Stranded Deep Or Mad Max had the right idea, very basic machine.
i want to pop in here and say gyrocopters arent that hard to build in beam. the main rotor blade pitch is fixed. it autorotates as air rises up through it. physics, even the bell helicopter autorotates in beam ng drive but IT SINK RATES LIKE A LEAD ROCK. a gyrocopter has basically a free spinning fan as your lift. and it flies kinda how you drive a car and some ARE infact street legal. if It lets me i will link a few videos to provide help and context. hopefully the developers do change their mind if theres a crosswinds update and windsheer becomes a thing. they really should update that lol... https://youtube.com/shorts/4sQlVgxZleY?feature=shared for context^^^ this is the shortest large gyrocopter takeoff I have ever seen with that model. steps for takeoff in a gyro. engine on. make sure to flip the rotor brake to off. pull the clutch with your fingers(the lever on the joystick) to rotate the main rotor up to speed. as soon as its at full speed or maxed out. pull back all the way basically and push throttles up to basically max throttle and let off the main rotor so it spins freely. if you did it right you wont get rotor flap or flip over. taking off in these is extremely easy to do but landing is easier. if you do it right. in a normal fixed wing aircraft taking off is easy but landing is tricky. autocycles/gyrocopters/ autogyros.... whatever you call these. have been around for a VERY VERY long time. longer than regular planes i think. extremely easy to fly and land even in heavy winds. top speed around 60 .... it is super short takeoff and landing. also... there is something I want to show you https://youtube.com/shorts/-ufgKwVX7H0?feature=shared < fairey rotodine this is how many years ago!? I feel like if the wing tip jets were placed mid way not at the end of the blades you could have more pressure put through the lines and push the blades faster. less noise. less intimidating to be able to fly in. about as big as a schoolbus. considering how realistic beam ng drive is THEM ADDING ANY KIND OF AIRCRAFT LIKE THIS would be like slapping a rotor onto a jato powered sedan and calling it a day and it more than likely would work if balanced correctly. ^^^ in depth takeoff procedures. a kid could fly one of these honestly once its up in the air its very hard to crash... the funny thing is the faster you go the more the blades spin up so you can litterally pull the lever back slightly. mash the throttle and it will basically climb really well. also if you take a VERY TIGHT TURN at full speed. it wont stall. it will actually become RIGID because the main rotor will lose flex as the blades speed up!. (ONE WARNING: the aircraft tumbles out of the air if you full forward stick. and full throttle. especially with engines behind the driver seat. it tips over and can instantly stall if you tilt forward and put negative pressure on the blades it will tumble out of the air stalling the main rotor. dont full throttle and dive foward. it will front flip and you will fall out of the sky) ^^^ video where they literally take one of these aircraft(some of which actually are street legal) to a mcdonalds lol. you gotta see this silliness. I hope all of this changes the devs minds. I can imagine a mod where a bus has a helipad outfited on top of it and is speeding along at like 30 mph and you can land the gyrocopter on the helipad. that would be awesome --- Post updated --- I HOPE THIS ALSO HELPS THE DEVS. ITS AN ULTRA simple frame design. basically the shape of a cross or a T. its a tricycle design but I can imagine a setup with a 4 wheel design. theres a fine ballance between rotor size and how fast it spins. shorter length main rotor will have to spin a ton faster to produce the same lift as a slightly longer rotor. thats something to keep in mind
But this is a car driving videogame, the devs have said that they will make ground vehicles, no boats, no planes, no submarines, no whatever, simple as it may be, the devs only do things that go on roads or on the ground and drive, they have said this multiple times iirc
I HOPE THIS ALSO HELPS THE DEVS. ITS AN ULTRA simple frame design. basically the shape of a cross or a T. its a tricycle design but I can imagine a setup with a 4 wheel design. theres a fine ballance between rotor size and how fast it spins. Well if they do ever change their mind... I'll be waiting for that day. And I hope they do change their mind and willingly take a jab at it for fun. You never know. We arent robots. We arent absolute every time. We will see how things play out and if they get bored and wanna do something silly like add a convertible plane car or something.
