Even though it's incredibly popular, I still think the NSX is underrated for what it is:

Supposedly one of the greatest handling sports cars ever, and has an amazingly striking design that, despite being from 1989, still looks good today. It's crazy how well they nailed the design. The main change they made in 2002 were the exposed headlights shown above, and suddenly it looked modern again.

    EDIT:

Another honourable mention from Honda is the 1983-1987 first gen CR-X. I say this because when most people think CR-X, they think of the smoother, curvier design of the 1987-1991 model, but this one and its Ballade variant were better looking to me.

Not very powerful, but being an FWD Honda model closely related to the Civic, I bet it's still a fun thing to throw around.

I suppose I'll double post since it's been a few days and I have another.

Underrated in both senses of the word. The original plans were to give the car a V12 and an AWD drivetrain, but it ended up being RWD with the (still brilliant) V6TT from the Metro 6R4. So its engine was downrated before release, and it was pretty quickly overshadowed by the McLaren F1 which released in the same year. It's a fantastic car that I don't think gets enough credit.

Oh, and it had the coolest faux-popup headlights ever:

Agreed. Unlike most ones I post I think it is a product of its time and it doesn't look modern now, but it's a beautiful car. The fact that it's a bloody long car works well with the design they penned for it.

Nice car, but that picture is awful. Looks like a badly made HDR image.

You can only thank so many posts in one day, apparently.

His last one had a Z-engine in it, so it was pretty brisk. It even had fake wood grain and it was only an LE model.

The new ones are supposed to be really nice too.

Regular 1994 Magna's are shitboxes but one model that you probably have never seen or heard of is actually the car I learnt to drive a Manual in and it is beautiful & a hoot to drive. Its a Mitsubishi Magna Executive 'Classique Series', I borrowed it off of my old man whilst my Commodore gets serviced. I love it (And yes, it was built in Australia)

    Underrated car: Merkur XR4Ti.
    ad_merkur_xr4ti_red.jpg
I know it is the same car as a Sierra XR4i, but with a 2.3 turbo 4 instead of the Cologne 2.8 V6. I know.
My dad had a XR4Ti, and it was a fun car. RWD, manual, turbo, fully loaded. He did 110 on a narrow little 2 lane road in it and did a few donuts in it.
The thing was taken from us after we rented a temporary storage unit for it, and the guy there took it and crushed it. Now it is gone, still makes me shed a tear.
Also gone were a Nissan Stanza with a KA24E, a Cadillac Sedan DeVille with a new small block in it, a Merc 190E, and that's about it. Now it's safe to say small claims court is coming soon.

Only reason the guy would have for crushing them would be you guys not paying the storage unit bill, in which case the terms and conditions of those units would allow him to get rid of the contents. He has no requirements to return them to the owners. Usually they auction them off.

My dad said he didn't pay the rent, and paid it a day later fully. Instead of legally auctioning it off, he gave it to some guy who crushed it, with no legal, authorized paper trail.

This is one of those cars that you won't think much of until you've seen one in real life driving in front of you before you're very own eyes
