Hey everyone, I’ve been working on a project called AutoCraft, a tool that makes it much easier to create vehicles for BeamNG.drive. Instead of needing Blender or advanced jbeam knowledge, you can design a vehicle in the app and create a BeamNG mod for it. The app is available at Steam. https://store.steampowered.com/app/3800400/AutoCraft/ The created vehicle in the app can be converted to ready-to-use BeamNG.drive mod at this website. https://www.delta-cross.com/ It creates mod with automated generated 3D files, Jbeams and texture materials. This video might be helpful to understand how it works. My hope is that this makes modding more accessible and brings even more creative content into BeamNG. I’d love to get your feedback and ideas from the community.
Thanks. 3d models can be imported from blender to AutoCraft. You can learn how to do this here https://www.delta-cross.com/Docum.php?tid=D5&lid=L5_2&p=Page5_02.html . But these imported models will work for things like steering wheel, side mirror or interior items. For body panels, you have to rely on in-app 3d design tools because body panels have aerodynamics and crash physics and difficult to automate on blender models.
Syntax error may be due to invalid file location in the line shown below. Put a valid file location there for it to work. --- Post updated --- I am soon updating the app so that .OBJ 3d files can be loaded directly without needing a blender script.
Interesting, and what if you don't want to make a car, but for example a small locomotive or an airplane, are you planning to add something like that to the program?
This app is only for cars with four wheels. I do plan to make a similar app for aircrafts but thats a long way to go and that would be a separate project.
so let me get this straight. you made a software, similar to automation, but also created a proprietary file format and locked the conversion process behind your website for a fee of 3$ per vehicle?... is this some kind of sick joke? with this current exploitative business model, you can go pound sand. dont get me wrong, i WAS exited when i saw the possibility of this software, but if you think ill pay 2$ for a software that charges me 3$ PER VEHICLE!?!?! make your software 20$ or gtfo with this proprietary website processing bs. aint no way im paying 3$ PER VEHICLE to have an alternative software to automation. you know very damn well what you've done, the conversion process could've 100% been done on the software side of things. but ohhh the greed. $$$$$$$$ this is extortion. pure and simple. i paid 40$ for automation, if your software is useful. ill sure as hell pay 30$ if its worth it. ABSOLUTELY NOT A PER VEHICLE FEE WTF this current "business model" is exploitative at best, and to me is extortion. hope you re-think your current business model. because as it currently stands, when i noticed the bs way youve done things, i refused to even cough up 2$ to get the software to begin with.
Thanks for the feedback! When you sign up on the website you actually get enough free credits to convert quite a lot of vehicles at no cost. Right now, the conversion process runs on the website because the tool is still being improved, and pushing daily updates to Steam isn’t very practical. Feedback like yours helps me figure out what model makes the most sense for players. Looking ahead, I see two main paths: Make the App free and handle conversion at the website with a fee. Keep a price tag on the app, maybe 10$ or something, and make the vehicle converter built-in with the App. My decision on this will be based on feedback from the community.
while this is my opinion, i doubt im the only one with this similar sentiment. online, paid per use service pisses people off and are predatory. its already a pretty heated topic of discussion, because of enshittification, and pure greed, games and softwares or just features being locked behind a subscription based model, or straight up having your copy deleted from existence because ubisoft decides to be a massive ahole of a company. id hella pay 20$ for your software if it means it gets done all locally and dont have to pay a subscription based service. what seems to be included in this software is absolutely useful and worth the price in my opinion. but im 100% against any paid per use "business model" extortion model. this proprietary file format and website processing is literally unnecessary, and only a roadblock to milk your users like a cash cow in my opinion. what you've done is basically automation, with extra steps, and worst because its paid per use.... bundle it all together for ease of use on the users side, charge a one time payment like most sane softwares that arent hated by humanity does (hint, looking at you adobe) and from my pov you'd be good dont get me wrong, i saw your software and i immediately went to buy it on steam, but backed down because of this paid per use predatory service. i am looking for a in depth suspension software because im hella visual and i need to look at something to debug jbeams, and not just random strings of numbers. having a software like this would be a game changer. but at the end of the day, im not a business, im a single user who refuses to cough up thousands to license softwares. this software genuinely peaks my interest, and i wish to support you in the future. i just hope you re-think the current... "business model" id rather pay a one time fee, than endlessly paying to process vehicles. (oh hey, i changed one variable i forgot, another 3$ conversion bc of a silly mistake, silly me) hell nah bruh. ^^^ let me convert cars locally endlessly. as for the "pushing updates to steam" dilemma... i aint got a damn clue how that works. but i personally wouldnt mind having updates pushed, or a beta test branch to test features before they get released publicly. regardless... at the end of the day, what matters is that you dont give up. keep up the good work, i see a lot of potential in this software. i just genuinely hate the current business model and refuse to throw my money at the screen at intervals of 3$
you know you wasteded life time writing this and you know you can inport custom 3d moddels i dont think automation can do this
With the recent update, you can now import 3d model in .OBJ file format using this button . Now you don't need a blender script. --- Post updated --- I myself plan to make this built-in with the app because it will cost me a lot of cloud processing and maintenance but for now i want to keep it this way until it gets matured. And don't worry, its free for testing. There isnt a payment gateway attached to the website so you cant pay at the website even if you want to .
