Thats up to Mr. X or any actual modders if it gets added back. It used to exist in the mod back in the early days when it first released. Like I said, I'm no modder, just a guy with some time on his hands a love for Herbie. I just wanna make some fun, movie/tv accurate configs and car specs for everyone to enjoy!
I'm really not doing anything expect making configs to share with y'all! If Mr. X chooses to use them that'd be sick, but they've taken over as mod developer, and whatever they say and do goes ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. If I could figure out how to mod/model/import parts to help, I absolutely would, trust me.
Hey lads, sorry to keep spamming the thread as of late, but I decided to watch through the "Herbie, The Love Bug" TV series from CBS years for the config, and found some cool little parts/additions that could be cool to see in the mod (at a future point), I know some stuff we actually already have, one of which being the dash-mounted clock inside. What's also cool to see was how much *care* was put into every iteration of Herbie. The production teams got so many special, minute details right, like the font, interior coloring, and even the special high-back seats! Super cool to see! I'm still doing a watch through, and apart from some mid-tier writing and emphasis on "no racing" the show makes in EP 1, it's still a fun little watch, with each episode being about 40 minutes long! The only two things I've found are the "Famous Driving School" headboard for Jim Douglas' driving school in the series, and a funny little Heater switch inside of Herbie, just beneath the glovebox, if memory serves me right!
THE "JIM DOUGLAS ERA" HERBIE PACK! (config pack) Hey guys, Leek here! I had a HUGE "Love Bug" kick lately, and decided to go out and remake every major Herbie configuration from what I deem the "Jim Douglas Era!" Just simply extract the zip file, and drag the "current" folder into your beam by hitting "manage user folders" through the launcher! "What is the Jim Douglas Era?" The "Jim Douglas Era" is all the featured movies and TV series featuring Jim Douglas/during Jim Douglas' time with Herbie! This included when Herbie was left with Mrs. Steinmetz, Tennessee's Aunt in "Herbie Rides Again" and "Herbie Goes Bananas," when he was left to Jim's Nephew; Pete Stancheck. "What's included?" Every single major configuration we see Herbie in (A TOTAL OF TWELVE!), in each of the following movies/TV Series (in order): The Love Bug (1968) Herbie Rides Again (1974) Herbie Goes To Monte Carlo (1977) Herbie Goes Bananas (1980) Herbie, The Love Bug: CBS TV Series (1982) The Love Bug: Made for TV film (1997) Each configuration features an upgrades 1.6L boxer 4 (Porsche 365 engine) with upgraded parts, suspension, and tires, just like the original Herbie boasted in his film Debut (upgraded to approx. 190hp, running through his 4 speed manual transmission. Herbie also features his unique personality. The choice to go with the 1.6L and 63' transmission is both for accuracy sake, and drivability! !!NOTE: THERE ARE NO NEW PARTS/MODELS ADDED IN THIS PACK, IT IS PURELY VEHICLE CONFIGURATIONS!! As much as I wish I could add in new parts for this mod, especially the custom parts seen in Herbie: Fully Loaded (partially why it was excluded for the reason that I wouldn't be able to do those cars justice), I just simply don't have the skill/time to learn how to both model parts, AND learn LUA and Beam.NG's code! But please do enjoy everything I could bring you here! With that said, Happy racing guys!
When you go to launch the game (through steam, if thats what you play on), click manage user folder, and (iirc) open user folder, it'll bring you to a folder called "current", just drag the extracted/unzipped folder to the same spot, and everything should do it automatically, here's a vid I just made helping to explain the process tho!
Sorry, it's hard for me to figure this stuff out. I'm not a technology kind of person. I was able to get it working since my dad's a tech wizard. Thanks for the config pack, good sir!
Did you make sure to extract the .zip file? And if dragging the "current" folder into the same location as the other doesn't work, just import the files inside the "bug" folder into your bug folder through the same location as shown in the video! I tried to make it easy for everyone, but may have accidentally made it harder
Thats so strange, because both myself and others have gotten it to work... Try clearing ur games cache and see if that helps!
Ive done that 15 times still no. Ive even tried just transfering it into my mods folder and becasue its got no value file size it wouldn't even pick it up
Do me a favor, can you please go check in the "manage user folders" section of the launcher, physically go to the bug vehicle folder, and see if everything was placed inside there
I meant like it would take longer to start the engine, or it would take like 3 tries and then it would start
you maker guy if you want i have few old vw beetle '38 parts if you want i can send you some pics and i got the speedometer to so if you need pics ill h aye you here too
