I know back during the early days, Vertex had to make special chrome trim pieces on the hood to add the roundel going over it. I'm honestly fine with it not going over it if it makes that part more simple/easy. I do think that the different spacings on the front would be nice to have, so I'll see if I can learn how to make UV map/liveries for the bug and include it in a future Jim Douglas Era pack, if Mr.X doesn't beat me to the punch and add it in prior! Also, I think that there is a difference between the 1974-1977 Herbie livery, and the 1980-TV series liveries, where the dark blue stipe ends up lighter, but I could have misread that online through various Herbie forums. --- Post updated --- I figured out what it is. The poster for the movie Herbie Goes Bananas features a version of Herbie with the classic The Love Bug colored stripes in a 74-onward design, going below the front hood and (I'm guessing) the rear vents. --- Post updated --- WOOOOO! It looks so so so good! Rally Beetle build, here I come!!! --- Post updated --- Oh, @MrX13415 I'm sorry to keep pinging you and ask about more features/future update stuff, but I have one really weird/odd question for ya; Is there any way to add an option to remove the chrome window trim and be able to replace it with black rubber molding? I know the 1997 + 2005 movie Herbie's used black molding/removed chrome for the window trims.
Awesome! You've been my favorite modder since the day I found this mod lol. Any older parts planned with this update by the way?
Double Update... I managed to find my way to the physical models and part customization and exported them from NFS to .fbx format... These are the parts I found worth exporting... XD
THE JIM DOUGLAS ERA CONFIG PACK UPDATE v1.1 Great news guys, not only have I officially made the config pack into a mod, but I have made proper info files for each car, pairing it with an adjusted price relative to how much it would cost to buy, and career mode compatibility! Just drag and drop the .zip file into your mods folder, and watch as TWELVE new Herbies, built to screen accuracy, make their way into your VW Bug vehicle hierarchy. This mod contains TWELVE different configurations of Herbie, all from the "Jim Douglas Era" of Herbie films and TV shows! Ranging from Herbies first appearance in 1968's The Love Bug, to the 1997 TV Movie of the same name, and everything in-between, including the relatively unknown TV series, "Herbie, The Love Bug". Depending on what was used for stuns or sequences in the movie, most bugs feature an upgrades 1.6L Flat four engine, producing 130 horsepower, similar to the Porsche engines used, paired with a 4 speed manual gear box to propel Herbie to speeds of over 120MPH! Each Herbie configuration comes paired with its own spec sheet, visible in the vehicle spawn menu, which means Career mode compatibility!
if its ok to ask i wouldn't mind seeing more skins and or accesories for herbie and or just the beetle in general (if it could happen) this is more of for the general mod as a later type thing and not right now type thing, skins the exhaust soot covered herbie from herbie goes to monte carlo, demo derby and junkyard herbie from fully loaded, and a more dirtier/race worn herbie from the love bug (68). that and also regular (non wide) vw 5 lug wheels. to fit more regular beetle variants or the 97 herbie, showroom herbie, rides again herbie, and the tv show herbie.
I think it would be really nice, to see some more configs and skins from FL. Especially the junkyard version and the nascar herbie.
at this point as nice as it would be to have a nascar herbie, the amount of modifications between the regular beetle to nascar herbie would require far too much time, like modifing fenders, a new roll cage, new steering wheel, basically all the nascar interior parts overlaying, a new engine being that its a aftermarket 2.3 version of the flat 4, new tires, wheels, windows, trimming, hood pins, the raised rear trunk a fuel cell, all those things as nice as it would be, would probably be far too much. at most the only other config i'd like to see is street racer herbie, but that too has some other things that could take too much time
I just wanna say how amazed i am that herbie is actually still remembered because he hasn't been on the thearters since 2005 which was 20 years ago now. To all herbie fan's here and to the current two working on this mod and future updates lets add move beetle configs and lets enjoy these's configs and the mod. thank you and keep wheeling along --- Post updated --- when will we see these's parts added and what else should we expect?
So I have practically NO experience with LUA code and have physical modding… *yet* I plan on taking as much free time as I can with studies to start adding in these parts as a separate “mod of mod” for this, and was given permission by Mr.X. My plan is to figure out and add all of the missing parts from Fully Loaded to the best of my ability to here as I can! The NASCAR Herbie spec is actually going to be the easiest, as the entire inside is stripped out basically! I wouldn’t expect anything drastic soon, but so long as I keep at this, we’ll have new custom wider fenders, running boards, and configs! --- Post updated --- as I mentioned previously, I’m planning on stepping up and learning everything I need to in order to help bring everyone these parts! While the methods may not be *the best* and super dev quality at first, I plan on continuing to upgrade and fix them long term! one idea I have for the custom 2332 FAT motor is to build one using automation to get a lot of the concepts and models, and then see if there’s a way to bring that to Beam, if not just temporarily
