INTRODUCTION This was my first time at recording in real life and porting them into the game, credit to GabeIS300 and KCM1R0 for inspiration. The cars used for recording were a M240i with a Downpipe, Dinan Intake and an Unknown Exhaust, as well as an Mk5 Supra with a Dinan Catback Exhaust. I tired my best to recreate these with as much detail as possibly could even with beams limitations. The Supra mod used is not mine and is not included with the sound. Supra Recording Setup M240i Recording Setup Features custom Afterfire lua and experimental loop based burbles (Credit TTN) variable shift sounds and realistic blow off valve sound from irl other stuff im too lazy to mention compatibility for the etk series coming eventually Credits @thestolbhunters for the original Supra mod link here: https://www.beamng.com/threads/toyota-supra-a90-mkv-re-release.100370/ Support me, this and future projects on Patreon Access is available now! A paid mod for engine sounds? Really? When I first saw this post, I thought it was yet another dumbass trying to charge money for a meshslap of a licensed car and honestly, I kind of wish it was because this is just a new low in comparison. I detest paywalling in general, but at least (most of) the people who release paid car/prop/part mods here have taken the time and effort to actually MAKE something from the ground-up, as opposed to just recording and looping a bunch of .wav files. I sincerely hope that noobdy here is dumb enough to actually pay money for this.
Paid meshlaps... then paid car parts... then paid tires... and now paid car sounds. What's next? Paid configurations? Seriously, I am not against paid mods. But when a person just makes such a little mod, where is that "hard work" which is a modder getting paid for? Well, maybe this mod adds some greatest 4k sounds, I dont know the quality of this. So, I will just wait for someone to make a review on this.
Hey, youre free to feel how you want lol. no one's asking you to buy anything , But come back to me when u can pull off stuff of the same quality. Why this is paid you ask? for one the insane start up capital needed to even get the proper equipment needed to record engine sounds in high fidelity, then theres labor too. so many spend more time doing research than blindly hating --- Post updated --- "4k sounds"
That is a metaphor, I was not being THAT serious, man I just want to be sure that it is not a scam or something, there is nothing bad in that
my bad cant tell who's serious and who isnt on the forums lol. rest assured its not a scam, i have all behind the scenes photos and a discord server who can vouch for me
Yeah, and so many other people make something that's actually worth coughing up three bucks for instead of a few sound files slapped together.
Oh ok. Well, I can agree with you, on nowadays forums it is hard understand that. I just hope this thread won't turn into paid mods debate as a lot of other ones
The AC community has accepted this stuff already at a high scale, this guy is probably from there so can try and cash in on beamng members.
Because there are no mods for AC that require hundreds, and even thousands hours of work on a single vehicle like in Beamng. So of course people instantly become greedy when they see that they can exploit the system and get money from it. Although, as more and more low quality mods appear in Beamng, I think it is somehow true that people from AC will come here as the alternative source of income. Not meaning that OP just came in here to grab free cash, but can't really judge here, I will better keep up my true opinion to myself.
As somebody who has her toes in the pro audio world, I really appreciate the effort that was put into this. The mics you used (can't tell what they are exactly just from those pictures of the cars) have really nice clarity and color, and sound like they have a relatively flat frequency response as I don't notice any particular frequencies being too overpowering. Unfortunately though I think some of the people here on the forums really don't understand or appreciate the type of choices and equipment used for this stuff, or the skills required to operate them properly, which is fine, as they simply just don't know everything that goes into it. Anyway, very nice work my friend, everything sounds very good to my ear and effectively analogus to a real B58. :3
Oh, well, so it is worth it? Well, I really didnt know if it was a hard thing to make these sounds and I didnt even know that there is some needed crazy equipment for that. I guess if someone likes it, it is already not a useless mod (just very niche, probably)
Yes, for the particular microphone setup OP used on the Supra there, we have 4 microphones on the back of the car, which if you include the cost of (assumed) nice name-brand microphones, plus deadcats (the big balls of faux fur on the end of the mics, used to eliminate wind noise) as well as the cost of a portable audio recorder with at least four input channels, OP could have easily spent $2,000-$3,000+ in gear alone. Then you also have to consider any amount of time OP spent working in a Digital Audio Workstation like Avid Pro Tools, or Logic Pro, or Ableton, to mix the four channels of audio, as well as working with the game's files and audio engine in order to get it to sound proper as well. There really is a lot of things to consider that I think gamers generally overlook or take for granted most of the time, which is not from a lack of appreciation, but lack of knowing what the full processes entailed are :3
