Pretty neat project, and really good work. I really loved driving the SRF in iRacing, and it's nice seeing something like it in beam.

    A few thingies I've found with the suspension/handling :
    • Brakes aren't powerful enough. I haven't been able to lock the wheels under reasonable circumstances. I'd also suggest switching the brake models to one of the less sporty options available.
    • Both rear and front suspension have bumpsteer, with the front having assymetric bumpsteer.
I have this really jank bumpsteer fix workflow I had done for MFD that you can use as reference. Essentially you adjust/fix bumpsteer by either moving the steering rack up or down, or moving the inner tie-rod nodes in/out (which changes the length of the tie-rods)
    upload_2025-10-28_17-55-56.png

You can use the advanced wheels debug UI tool to get the angles.
    • The suspension limits are very unequal between the front and rear, with the rear being limited by the very short arms on the sway bar. To adjust this I like to just remove the coilovers and see how it articulates.
    • The suspension setup itself needs work. I feel like the front end has a significantly lower effective spring rate than the rear, while also having too much rebound damping. I have to do a bit of cleaning up, but I have an excel base suspension setup calculator that I have made that I use for baseline setups, that can then be fine tuned for handling, mostly with sway bar adjustements and small damper adjustements. Main thing though is that it requires knowing the motion ratio of your suspension, which is essentially how much the shock compresses relative to wheel movement.
    • This requires having a decent baseline spring rate, but generally you want to have a baseline precompression on your springs, so reasonable setups end up with variations of around +/-0.05m ride height adjustements.
Other than those thingies, the suspension seems solidly built with no wobbles, which is an exploit by itself as suspension in beam is probably one of the biggest PITA to make stable. Keep up the good work.

Thank you so much man for the info, I honestly have never even paid attention to the hardlimits, the suspension in the back is also generally stiffer as its much different from the front and uses less movement, its also very heavy as I am not the best at jbeams, but I might have to delay the mod by a bit now to get the suspension reworked, also the brakes I have realised that they aren't the best as the car weighs much more then when I installed them, they also heat up very quickly, another thing is I dont get what bumpsteer is and I have also realised that the car can sway sorta up left under power and load,
Also is bumpsteer the movement where the wheels toe in and out when the suspension compresses and decompresses?

Bumpsteer = Wheels steer when moving up/down. There's probably a lot of interesting visual references online on the topic.

Weight is a bit of a pain in beam due to stability limits. Beams between light nodes have to be less stiff, otherwise you get instability (and explosions). The best way to reduce weight is to remove nodes that aren't absolutely necessary, and simplify how things are done. I haven't looked super in depth but you don't seem to have fallen in the trap of having things jbeamed way too densely, so by reducing weight bit by bit you should be able to get something decent. According to the interwebs SRFs seem to be a bit above 700kg? I'd argue that should not be too difficult to achieve for a race car with relatively simple jbeam.

    Okay thanks,
Also i am off by like 350kg on the base weight of the car, the rear suspension alone weighs around 50 but it used to be much worse, I still dont get much things about jbeams such as the purple beams(supports) and how to use them to really dampen the suspension,
And I have no idea on how to fix bumpsteer in the front

One thing I've noticed idk if it's just me, but the car has a slight pull to left (it turns left with no steering input) it's not major or anything just something slightly annoying other than that amazing mod

thank tou, I have actually stated that it pulls to the left but rhat can easily be fixed by changinge toe left/right trim in the tuning tab

i know i said that was the last bit of progress but i have to delay it :p
    New Wheels
    Suspension has been completely redone
adding more accurate hard limits, better weight values and rigidity
the configs are also being remade

probably a bit since i have to remake the suspension, but the only reason its going to be delayed is becouse i have exams in school soon and they last for a few days :p

    I have a few feedback,
    1. Orbital camera isn't centered:
    uncentered.png

    2. you should try to fix the front wheel fitment:
    screenshot_2025-11-02_16-48-09.png

    3. your UV should be in 4096x4096 and not in 1024x0124 and you should clean it cause this is weird:
    weirduv.png

    4. The brake cooling tube aren't double sided:
    upload_2025-11-2_16-52-36.png upload_2025-11-2_16-52-43.png

And I think that's pretty much everything I found, but this thing has potential so please don't let it die ;)
