What are you all doing to my poor tool? xD Youre using the version with net included from above? Can you post a image? Sounds like a cache problem to me.
Just out of curiosity was this ever fixed? I'm playing around with the tool and not sure it creates the a folder thing in 0.36 which I assume isn't right but just curious if you've found a workaround for this yet? I'm attempting to make a map and just have no clue how to get terrain material put into the map. I got excited cuz this tool sounded like it'd make it easy but sadly it does appear to not be working properly. There also aren't any previews in the thing but that's a simpler thing to work around.
Yes ^^ Here is the latest version: https://github.com/Grille/BeamNG_LevelTemplateCreator/releases/tag/v0.5
Awesome! Looking at things it uses pbr textures so I'll need to make sure to upgrade the map to use those correct? Also which asset do I need from the page or do I just download all and put into a folder?
Also is there a tutorial anywhere on how to properly install this onto my computer and use it? I can't seem to figure it out. --- Post updated --- Also for some reason the last question got put into moderation but this uses PBR textures meaning I will have to upgrade the map to have those correct?
wait actually does this create a new empty level with your chosen terrain paints in them ready to add a height map and use? From what I saw when using it it was creating a new folder
Documentation is still pretty lacking, hope to change that at some point, as you figured out this tool isn’t ideal for upgrading an existing map to PBR Yup, exactly what it does ^^
so I created the empty level with that but the terrain paint isn't showing up in the menus? Not sure if I missed something or not, but I can't seem to find the terrain paint? It also isn't showing anything in the level folder where the terrain stuff usually is
yes, I selected the terrain materials upon creation, I might try again later see if it was just my computer being wierd but I did select the materials, though there wasn't any material selected to begin with? I'm not sure if it is supposed to have something selected first or not
Alright I've tried again a few more times and still can't figure it out, I select the materials and create the level and it shows up in beamng but when I go to actually edit the terrain there is no terrain paint options to use. There is also this wierd cube off in the distance, not sure what that is about.
That cube is probably your terrain Can you screenshot the program once you create the level? Also pack the level as zip and upload it here please? I want to inspect what my program produced in detail ^^
This is what it created, all I've done is create the level and then load into the map to try to start editing This is how I have the program setup right as I hit the save level button and interesting I did get an actual error message about one thing, not sure but that might have something to do with it --- Post updated --- Interestingly enough I just tried without having the mentioned texture and again same thing just with a different one.
Yea... Error is very bad xD Has to do with BeamNG's new asset link system. Have to fix that before it will work again. Thank you for raising my attention to it ^^
Darn, maybe I'll try making a copy of a map and practice using tools to do map building on one rather than dive headfirst into a brand new one while I wait lmao, all I need to do is figure out how make the copy(hopefully easier than making one from scratch).
Tho could u @me when you get it fixed? I'd hate to miss it lol Also for some reason my vanilla beamng maps are not in my levels folder, at least from what I can find? Not sure but the folder only contains my modded maps and none of the vanilla ones are listed, the game still functions properly, just not sure why they aren't in their folder? not sure if that might've been related to my issue or if they are hidden or something like that.
will do ^^ also what happen if you export a map just using default skybox and 10m_grid? this should hopefully work
Issue should be fixed now. As for your question, the levels folder is only for levels youre curently editing. downloaded maps land in the mods folder zip packed vanilla maps/content you find in the game_install_folder/content/levels/... as zip files https://github.com/Grille/BeamNG_LevelTemplateCreator/releases/tag/v0.6
