    Apple increasing the price of the iphone 17 in which it has worse quality than the predecessor the iphone 17 feels like more than a downgrade instead of an upgrade:\

    I don’t know a single person who buys a brand new iPhone anymore. Most people who buy fancy iPhones (literally everyone at my school uses an iPhone) just buys them refurbished because they’re so expensive new and depreciate so fast. “New iPhone” has pretty much come to mean iPhones from as far away as 4 years ago because there’s so little innovation between generations and consumers know it.

    school has become so academically boring. I know in America at least there's been a recent push trying to make students more academic and less factory worker training. but seriously, academics is so mind numbingly boring. (especially college nowadays is kind of a waste IMO)

    English is just analysis here. Fucking sucks. You have to analyse poems, movies, documentaries, books, speeches and more whilst you only do like one or two creative writing tasks.

    if i could add to this;

    I don't think AI itself is inherently bad, especially considering its initial purpose which was making work and tedious things easier and quicker so we would have more time to be creative and have fun. Except, the way it's being used is the exact opposite; it's taking up all the fun things like art and music and even movies which just leaves us with this ugly slop of nonsense and what seems like no way to recover from it

    Hey, why stop there? I hate that five years ago, the world faced a global pandemic, increasing political instability, and a rise in authoritarianism, and that we no longer just disagreed over what to do in response to problems, but over whether those problems even existed in the first place. And what did we get? What did those silver-spooned technofetishistic blowhards from Silicon Valley introduce to help save the day?

    Generative AI and deepfakes. Lies, delivered better, faster, and cheaper than ever before. Wow. Thanks, Sam Altman. So now a revolving door of bullshit Facebook videos have confirmed for my dad that his innate distrust in anyone with a skin tone darker than a Manila folder is a valuable survival skill, but hey, at least my severely-autistic and occasionally violent cousin can get her therapy from a yarn-spinning culpability-free digital Yes Man sponsored by the same companies that have spent the better part of thirty years ensuring that every one of us will be inundated with ads for the rest of our goddamn lives. THANKS, GUYS. THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT WE FUCKING NEEDED!!!!

    ...I might have some strong opinions about this stuff.

    It's accelerating. They use "think of the kids" as an excuse to link online personas with real identities. We are close to totalitarianism than ever before.
