Small progress, but doesn't mean it was quickly done. Tires took their time, I've had to make a custom texture for the sidewalls to make them look right. That included a new scene to render the height map, and the template in photoshop for future modifications or versions. Here's a 100% sample: It goes into a 2048x2048 map after fitting it into the proper shape, along with the rest of the rim and tire details. Now it has the proper brakes (front discs, calipers and rear drums). Added trunk lid and rear emblems too, while I was at it. Oh, mirrors too.
Hot damn, this car is simply gorgeous! I think it's safe to say at this point, that it'll be the best looking car in BeamNG. You really know what you are doing. Keep up the great work!
Wow. This detail is insane for a non-profit one-man mod. I didn't care about this car at all, but now I'm hype to try out this mod just because of how nice it looks. I'm gonna be following this.
Great work man. The way u manage the polycount its perfect. simple as that. U did a very smart draw of that mesh making it beatufiul and "simple"... Great Mesh, great car, great skills. Keep it up! Saludos!
I think that's a bit toooooo much, but I appreciate the compliment And thanks for the comments everyone, here's how the interior looks right now. I would say it's 98% done. The steering wheel needs some tweaks, and as far as the overall interior detail goes, it's only missing two small ones. Worked the rear a little bit, trunk interior and taillights. I think that the exterior is about 90% done, again, only small details to go and windows, of course. Is not far from getting it in game, I'll just need to finish most of the geometry work before scaling down to the real measurements (I like to work with a larger scale on 3dsmax).
Wonderful, the interior detail is just s it should be. Once you add textures and normal maps it will look spectacular in game. One thing to be aware of though, you should be cautious of using triangulated faces, especially long thin ones, as they result in unappealing shading (it's not as much an issue for an interior, as there is less reflection). Still, it's good to have a grid like model all over to avoid this, which you have managed do do rather well! A good technique is to use floating models/unwelded geometry (for fixtures like door handles and vents), such that you can ave a curved fixture, while having a square cut out in the background mesh, thus there are no long triangles to ruin your shading. Also, would it be possible to have a right hand drive version (perhaps a JDM model). Given that you already have the fender mirrors for it, it would be nice for those of us who drive on the left
Did you sell your soul in exchange for your mod to look this good? WTF, this is on a whole new level of detail.
Sure, I'm taking care of the shading too. I'm using triangles where I consider saving some polygons, but keeping an eye on the specular reflections to check that it'll look good. So far the body looks good, haven't found any important issues there, even the wheel arches look decent enough, even though I've could've used a lot more polygons there (something I'm considering to improve). About the right hand drive and wheel options, not sure about going "full JDM" on it, but it'll definitely have different options as far as factory equipment goes. Right now I'm building it just as my own, it's the EL 1.6 export model, not USDM, except for the taillights wich I replaced them for the '82 USDM version (one of the original taillights was broken and I've got a brand new set of the USDM ones for a very low price). I never liked the door mirrors, but I'll have to make them sooner or later. If I ever go with the right hand drive option, well, it'll be this dashboard, wich drives me nuts! I love it. That's 100% JDM, came with tons of options, on-board computer, electronic cruise control, electric mirrors, etc, etc. This car was first released back in 1979, so it was a LOT back then. Oh, thanks all for the comments, too. Sold my soul to the Polygonized god almost 15 years ago, I guess it was worth it!...
I really do like Honda vehicles. When you have a snazzy little Honda like this, you have loads of character. Nice work.
