The new "construction vehicle/s ?" might be a new brand. Remember that one comment where stenyak said he proposed "capybara" as a name for a future vehicle. (was discarded tho.) Or its the name for the vehicle and not the brand.
And it's something that Rigs of Rods had plenty of. I'm not sure if it was planned, but it is funny that construction vehicles are being added around the 20th anniversary of RoR's release (11 August 2005). We've had "anniversary" updates before, with 0.13 and 0.27. With how important RoR is to the development of Beam, it does make sense that the devs would drop an update like this (and 0.37) this year. 0.36 could count as an "RoR anniversary update", since that brought the school bus/armored truck (RoR has quite a few bus mods, including WillM's school buses) and a remaster to the Burnside (similar to the '49 Ford from RoR). Come to think of it, some of the vehicles yet to be remastered share similarities to Gabe-built RoR cars: -Moonhawk ('70s Burnside) -Barstow (Gavril Bandit) -'88 Pessima ('87 Accord) -Ibishu Hopper (Gavril Zeta (somewhat)) I don't think all of these will get remastered/refreshed in 0.38, but we might see one or two of them get refreshed to commemorate 20 years of RoR. I think it's more likely to be the Hopper or '88 Pessima than the Moonhawk or Barstow, since the former two would be more likely to be traffic cars. I think one other thing that's convinced the devs to add big construction vehicles is the success of 0.30, 0.31, 0.33, and 0.37. All four of those updates focused on trailers and/or large vehicles and props, and all four are in the top 10 most successful updates. (0.31, 0.30, and 0.33 are #3-4-5 for overall peak player count increase, while 0.37 is #7.) People clearly like big vehicles and destruction, so leaning into that while tire thermals and other systems are being developed would be sensible. I don't know if we'll get a whole year of construction equipment, but I wouldn't be surprised. (I think we're more likely to get more large vehicles in general, rather than just more construction vehicles.)
Yeah no I have been deploying the legs if that's what you mean. But the upfit doesn't have any counterweights, and tips over even when trying to lift a Covet.
Because it's digital art, and they can fit more cars on a four lane highway than a two lane. They probably chose Johnson Valley because it's very simple and less detail needed to be put into the background of it.
I can't see them adding anything to Johnson Valley, especially a highway that I'm pretty sure doesn't exist irl
Randolph is a reference to the East Manufacturing company in Randolph Ohio. Same manufacturing segment as Fruehauf except, y'know, in Randolph...
Wentward already makes the DT40L, though it would be cool to see them expand. Often, commercial machinery businesses have an industrial business as well.
I've always thought wentward would make a good stand in for international harvester cars trucks and tractors
