For the last 3 winter update the update happened 83-85 days after the previous one. This would put us to December 9 which is 84 days since the last update and on a Tuesday. So that's my guess. Also the average day on which updates are published is the 10.8 and the standard deviation is 5.2 days, so the 9 is perfectly reasonable. A google sheet with the updates taken from SteamDB:
Since 0.18, the holiday updates have dropped no later than the 15th of December (with the exception of 0.18.3, which dropped on the 19th, and 0.24.1, which dropped on the 20th): -0.18: 9 Dec 2019 -0.21: 15 Dec 2020 -0.24: 2 Dec 2021 -0.27: 13 Dec 2022 -0.31: 14 Dec 2023 -0.34: 10 Dec 2024 I think we're likely to see 0.38 release around the same time at 0.27/0.31/0.34. The Steam Sports Fest sale event will be going from the 8th-15th of December this year, and I reckon that the devs will try to get an update in during that time to get some sales. AAricle's likely very close with their guess of the 9th. The devs have been trying to get the winter update out earlier every year, probably to attract more sales before and during the week around Christmas (which has been the yearly player count peak for every year except 2017). I'm gonna be slightly pessimistic and say the 10th, just because I think that these large vehicles will need a bit more time to be ready for release.
Ah nice, I hope yall are right. I've been hoping for a dump truck ever since I got Beam, but I'm going away for quite some time around then so I hope it's sooner than later --- Post updated --- Aside from wishing there was a vehicle sitting on top of them, I never really found a use for either tires. It's a weird thing to just add to the game, I'm guessing they were planning (or even working on) this update for quite some time. I'd argue it was the first teaser, just unofficially
With how big these tires are, how big do we expect them to be? Kinda hard to gauge what size we're getting from just them alone.
Imagine a body on this (WITH quite some front and rear overhang) BIG I'm guessing 130,000+ lbs net weight for something this size. Easily towers the T-Series physically I think it will be comparable to the CAT 773 if you want a real world reference based on its size.
So maybe something like this one https://www.komatsu.com/en-us/products/equipment/trucks/mechanical-trucks/hd785-8 If you check the specs it has an empty weight of 162 701 lbs (which is close enough to your estimate)
They've been in the game since 0.26 (September 2022), so these vehicles have been in the works for a while. As for the size and weight of the haul truck, one IRL example I've found (the Cat 785D, which is a mid-size model) has a rated weight of ~250,000 kg and a chassis weight of 83,000 kg. Just one of that truck's 33.00-R51 tyres (which are over 3m in diameter) weighs 2,332 kilos - or just slightly less than a V8 LXT Roamer. I highly doubt that the haul truck we'll be getting is that large, but that really just blew my mind how fucking massive these things are on average. Even that would be too large, since that runs on 27.00-R49 tyres (which are ~2.6m in diameter). The haul truck tyre in-game is ~1.8m in diameter - which is about as large as an 18.00-R33 tyre. I don't know how heavy a 27.00-R49 tyre is, but I reckon it'd be more than 783 kg. However, I have found a haul truck that uses 18.00-R33 tyres - the Cat 770G. That's about 8.8m long, 4.8m wide, and 4m tall, and weighs around 33,000 kg (with a max operating weight of around 71,000 kg). So, it's going to be easily one of the heaviest vehicles in the game, and it likely will be the tallest (outside of the high-roof T-Series), but I doubt it'll be the longest. It'll still be a huge and expensive toy to play around with, which will be fun. (As an aside, the Cat 770G is featured in Snowrunner in one of its earliest DLCs. I've no idea if the haul truck being of similar size to the 770G is a coincidence or not, but it is neat.)
Somewhere in that ballpark for sure, but maybe slightly on the lower end. It's big but it looks to lean towards the "smaller" skew of its class, which makes sense for Beam since anything too massive will be undrivable on most maps Here's an image I found of the 773 being towed by a Euro truck It lines up VERY closely with the Segra, which is similar to if not slightly larger than the semi in the image (I don't know what kind of truck that is - I know it's a MAN but if someone can identify the model that would narrow it down even more). But if this is the case, the tires look a bit bigger since the top of the in-game one is closer to the truck's window line. I'm adjusting my guess to a CAT 775, which is apparently a bit over 100,000 lbs empty, since the haul tires look a bit taller than the 773's. Hard to be sure though. But reguardless, at that kind of weight I feel like even tens of thousands of pounds become negligible against basically every other vehicle. And don't forget it'll almost definitely be loadable, so I'm sure it could push 250,000+ lbs with cargo Definitely not BelAZ size, but definitely ain't tiny either... EDIT: Worth fact checking since this is coming from ChatGPT, but apparently the CAT 775 takes 24.00 R35 (E4) tires, which on average weigh between 780 - 875 KG. The one in beam is 757 KG. It's almost definitely a CAT 775 twin. This is what we can expect
Its a very unique vehicle for sure. Can't wait to see it in action. If its a series (like the D, H or T-Series) we might even get different sizes, but yeah you guys current estimate seem to be the closest we have so far. I would prefer the 775 to the 770G in term of appearance because its closer to the stereotypical haul truck but either way its gonna be really cool to cause mayhem in those. Its apparently surprisingly fast as well, I've watched a video on Ultra-Class trucks earlier and the dude said they can drive to at least 70kph, which for that size is kinda crazy. Thats gonna be fun to try btw lol:
What in the GTA is this LMAOO The truck in the video looks about right. It should be in that ballpark. Is that a 775? I don't think it'll be a 770 by any chance. The cab looks side mounted in the teaser, and I see them going for something more conventional. Plus I think the 770 a lot smaller that the tires would suggest. In fact, I think a 770 is more likely to use something closer to the loader tires in weight, it's not even close. It's a lot bigger than that.
I have no idea lol but I just remember seeing this video from years ago and was it was a good time to share it lmao. There is a dude in the comments who think its a 777 but its hard to say, and I'm no expert on haul trucks lol
Okay this almost confirms it. Came across this picture online: It's a 775 "or similar" (as a rental company would say) The wheels are virtually identical. Maybe even a bit bigger If it isn't a CAT it's probably based on the Komatsu HD605-5. It's pretty firmly a medium mass haul truck. I think I prefer this to a supermassive one, it'll be easier and more fun to drive while being well above a (HEAVY QUOTATION) "compact" one.
Did you know Did you know that sometimes with certain vehicles you can actually flood the engine if you hit the gas and try and start it. Especially older vehicles of certain kinds... You hit the gas to give it more fuel but you could also drown the cylinders if you hold the starter down... And continue to dump a ton a fuel in it. Aren't there instances or something where you could actually hydro lock the engine with fuel? Asking a friend to answer this for me lol --- Post updated --- The best thing about those things is that their diesel electric so the biggest ones they actually have a unit where they pump heat through a radiator so they can continue using the induction or the electricity generated by the motors to brake and that heat and energy has to go somewhere. Those things are heavy duty and its gonna be interesting how the gearing is set up. It may be a single speed similar to a cvt BUT the actual driving motor is an ev motor and the engine is just giving the motor the power it needs because a battery for something like that would go pretty flat in no time due to rolling friction and other losses at that scale. Its POWER HUNGRY so I am expecting something violent to happen if any of the 6 tires goes bang
Apparently (at least on Ultra-Class trucks) the tires get so hot that snow melt off of them in arctic conditions lol
It would be cool if they added a proper quarry in like Johnson Valley. The west coast one ain’t gonna cut it for these kind of machines --- Post updated --- Also these huge haulers basically imply a form of hybrid drivetrain. They usually only use diesel engines as generators with electric motors actually driving the wheels.
Which is very interesting considering it was stated I think here not that long ago that the team isn't focusing on implementing proper hybrids into the game as they are very complex. Unless it was a lie meant to throw us off.
Well, don’t quote me on that but I feel like it is very rudimentary hybrid drivetrain setup. Sort of like the one that Ferdinand Porsche introduced at the very beginning of XX century. Nowhere near the complexity of modern road car hybrid systems.
