Separate the cab into its own .dae file with a new name for that mesh. Then you don't have to screw with the smoothing groups on the original game content or replace game content, you can just add a new .jbeam and add your new parts via the magic of multidae

Well since I'm learning i dont know how to Jbeam but I can probably copy the original cab till I can actually Jbeam and make it a legit convertible.

    -Edit-
I replaced the orginal Pigeon and backed it up and it works. I do have to fix the gaps but so far looks AMAZING #bestmodyet

That was what I mean, multidae means you don't need to replace the stock pigeon or break smoothing groups on stock pigeon.

Rename the cab object. Copy it to it's own .dae file. Copy the existing pigeon cab beam, rename and alter to use the different mesh. New can would then be a selectable part rather than replacing original

Had to change the Uv's a bit to increase the resolution of the gauges...sadly it's too late for the middle console...but it looks good enough for me :)...It's still not complete but it's enough for today..
Dividing the materials by giving them different colors at the first stage really saves time later on...so thanks for that one micro Blog Mitch!

Allrighty last edit, I swear :p
    xds.JPG Finished the gauges :)

Decided to take a break from schoolwork. Hopefully this one doesn't fall apart too much over time.

Its a bit bare, im hoping to get some grey textureless blocks in place of where i want there to be buildings, block bushes and fences. Maybe some day i might actually get around to making them :p

    Now with fenders and mirrors!
    screenshot_00008.png
Thanks to some additional suspension tuning, the front suspension is practically wobble free:D The turn in response is rather good!
    screenshot_00009.png screenshot_00010.png
Now I just have to sort out what's causing the sudden loss of rear traction (which makes driving the car on the limit almost impossible). The fact that only the rear brakes work does not help either...

It seems as thought the problem lays in the chassis (the rear axle only wobbles when the top arms are under load i.e reverse burnouts and normal braking). opefully fixing that and adding the swaybars in should cure the problem (and I need to figure why the front brakes apply to the rear wheels:confused:)

The gauges look lovely, the nice crisp textures really improve the interior view quality! as for the centre console, if you meant the fan controls, they look fine to me, so I wouldn't worry too much (if the worst case though, you can always just map them to a new material. This would be a good idea for the radio if you've run out of UV room)

Remember that the dash needs normal map grain like the steering wheel, it really adds to the visual appeal of the interior (the dash of the del sol appears to be smooth, though there appears to be a rather slight grain to it)

    (imported from here)

lastly, the door switches look a bit pixelated/fake, perhaps modeling them would be a better option (I'm assuming you still have the model from the bake). Overall though, the interior is looking very nice, I'm sure it can easily end up on par with the official vehicles. Just remember that you will be looking at it closely when in cockpit view, so attention to detail is key:D

Nooo! somehow I missed the edits until now

Anyways that's some amazingly good work man :) Did you create the normals by hand or are they baked from a higher poly version?

And I've gotta agree with Bakasan here and say that the door switches would look a good bit better if they were modelled. Also hate to be super nitpicky here but the air vent panel should be the same width as the control panel underneath it, a few more polies around the edge of the vent panel couldn't hurt either as its at a really focal point of the interior, but that is less important.

Thanks, I have the normal map grain for the dash but I somehow hid the layer in photoshop for whatever reason :p I'll try to do something about the door switches though :)
Thanks, I baked some of the meshes i.e. steering wheel, door panels and the stick to get smoother lines and edges but I didn't bake any of the details. All swithces/buttons/leather materials were made in photoshop. I don't know how the air vent width slipped me... there are always those obvious things that I don't notice, so thanks for the spot :p Beeing nitpicky is pushing me to make it look better, so never hold off :)

here we go again with the Edits:
Width fixed in literary 10 seconds :p also unhid the dash vinyl layer...it doesn't fit anymore because I moved some uvs around since the first time I put it there...the material is too rough and low res ayways...gotta go take a pic from my car as long as the sun is still up...it has almost the same material I noticed :)

Hello , great job , the only thing weird is the speedo max speed at 180 km/h . Normaly it's 200 km/h or 240 km/h if my memory is good :)

Thanks :) You may be right on the imported/non Si models as you can see here:
    xy.JPG
But I am going for a true JDM, Del Sol SiR...thus the right hand drive. The speedo is a bit different, going to 180 kmh max and the redline also starts at ca 8k instead of 6.5k :
    xdsa.JPG
Also the japanese versions seem to have one extra warning light on the cluster:
    ss.JPG
    I have no idea what it means...Bakasan I need u! :D

Japanese law states that the speedometer can only read up to 180km/h (to discourage speeding). Some cars even had a limiter (not until the late 80's/90's), but they are sometimes quite easy to disable. A good example of this is the Mazda Famalia GT-X/GT-R, in which the limiter could be disabled by removing a screw from behind the instrument cluster

That is a warning light to let you know if the catalytic converter is overheating/damaged.

Hello, great job. Why does the redline start higher on the imported version than on the JDM version?

Well, it's because the SiR model has the B16A engine which redline starts at 8k rpm. There are many variations of the B series engine...the U.S. model uses for example variations of the D series engines,(not sure what engine the speedo in my pic is exactly from ...probably a D15B/D16B) thus the different redline.

Thanks! You really know everything japanese, dont you :D

    Edit:

Fixed the middle air vent...does it look good enough now?
