With 0.38 it looks like the issue with VRAM running out using Vulkan and fps crashing into the ground and causing a slideshow is no longer a problem in this map.

I sold my 5090 for a few hundred more than I paid for it thanks to the stupid computer market these days. I managed to find a super good open box deal on a RTX 5060Ti 8GB card. Initially I thought I would not be able to handle going from 5090 to 5060Ti levels of performance, but in reality Beam is pretty flexible in settings to make things work.

The only thing I had to reduce was the resolution. Instead of running at 4K I run at 1440p at the same ultra settings I've used in all my testing before.

    285K + 5060Ti 8GB

    9800X3D + 5060Ti 8GB

    Ultra 5 225 + 5060Ti

Interesting that the 225 is matching the 9800X3D in this map with lots of traffic, this map has usually favored X3D chips, but the 285K is still king for performance on this map

You have to be the most dedicated mod creator in BeamNG but please, for your sake, and I hope I speak for everyone in on this mod, please, please take a break whenever you feel like it.

Been a year since the last update bro. I agree with you, but he kinda has been on brake. I just wish I could pool together some money with my buddies to help him get a place.

He's OK with a 5060Ti, for some people 8GB is plenty (especially if they're not creating 3D games).
Besides, those with 8GB video boards, I wouldn't sweat things too harshly. The thing is, with the price of computer parts going nuts (and my machine is 6.5 years old!) most people (including me) aren't going to build a new computer any more, or aren't going to upgrade anytime soon (and if they are, it is going to be a much lighter upgrade than before price hikes). I seen the RAM prices, they can put those sticks where the sun don't shine for what they cost now. Don't need it. I'll buy a years-old used PC before I WASTE money on a new one. Besides, I'd need a house to put it in, first.

Yea, I'm still without a home. But I just finished painting all the walls in the church bathroom, and it looks GORGEOUS.
The apartment complex (that I can AFFORD to live comfortably at) has been screwing me around FOR OVER A MONTH on the application. It's getting to the point where prison/jail is looking better every day, especially with my back and trying to sleep on an air mattress.

I keep praying that I'll find something reasonable. However it's been tough going. Everyone wants 800$ and up for places, it's insane, and this isn't even those most expensive city (by far) to live in. Even a trailer is 1000$ a month. I don't know where people would even work around here to make that kind of money, much less pay a vehicle payment too (or two vehicle payments and that). My car sounds like it wants to give up soon.

Save your money and see if this AI bubble pops at all. The venture capital that OpenAI is sitting on right now has got to run out sooner or later, especially when the (stupid) investors realize how many BILLIONS it's losing a year.
Every time they try and shove AI into something it MAKES IT WORSE. The only use I've ever had for it was an image upscaler and it's not that good - but it's a start (though it's not AI, it's just computer code, and kinda MEH).
With the price of things these days, I don't blame you for making money. Buy low sell hi. Of course that's what happened to the housing market and now I cannot afford a home. It'll likely be the end of me if I don't find one soon, unfortunately. However, good on you to make some money amidst this mess. I'd be sitting on that money, too. I'm certainly not looking to upgrade the PC anymore with the price of things, even if I had a place, it's just not worth what they want to charge for things. I will use some old beige box from the 90's and be quite happy for many endless hours, no internet needed for it, except to download a few things from another more modern machine.

So I finished up part of this building lot, some good detail. Areas near here got more detail too. It's nowhere near complete but certainly further along. It's the FLOCKHEED building.

So this building is way more detailed now. Exit area is a little convoluted and confusing / too many road markings so might simplify it some after seeing some real world references.

Added more detail to the roads here, mostly wear markings and such, and a tiny bit of edge detailing to the gas station parking lot (still needs more).
However, that seems to be what I'm good at. I'll stare at the level a while and see what needs improving. A little here, a little there, maybe a lot over in this place, maybe some more over in that place etc. See a bug, fix it, or report it if it's a game-engine thing (like recently discovering cars on-top an overpass affect cars underneath it, and vice-versa, when it comes to the AI pathing and collision avoidance).
Surviving the cold snap - the ice storm barely got us here, though we definitely weren't having worship service this past Sunday. A junk electric heater that rattles like mad and barely works is keeping the church kitchen in one piece and assisting the furnace in doing it's thing, and enough blankets on me at night and old sweatshirts shoved up against the drafty doors is making things survivable - for me AND the building. So it's working. I'm making the most out of it, like the apocalypse. Thank goodness I always kept some old emergency blankets and a bunch of old trashed sweaters / hoodies in my car trunk, I really needed them the last few nights!
Don't know how much more this old body will take. It's going to pieces and many days I truly am cripple. If this was a socialist country at-least I'd HAVE a home. It might not be great, but it'd be HOME.
Everyone likes to preach about how great democracy is. Yeah, well take a look around you. Look at the GREED. This is the GREEDIEST, NOT greatest, country on earth, for sure. I'd LOVE to leave it.
The things I used to enjoy, are too expensive to indulge in. The food I want to eat, is expensive, so much so that I'm on a diet not just solely for my weight. If you want to eat healthy you spend a TON.
An apartment, well, you either get scammed and live in a dump, and can't ever afford to get out of there (a big reason why I haven't jumped for it), or you get the run around from some place you CAN afford.
Don't know what the next day will bring. I'm just glad I wake up most days anyways. I hope the update provides some encouragement for folks following along this development thread.

Added a lot of curbing (this isn't the 'curb spline tool' which probably does what I'm doing 30x faster, but I tend to self-destruct anything I touch in this editor... so yeah). Took LOTS of time.
Added wear variation to the roadways, and storm sewer graphics, though the buildings that are present have been there for quite some time (probably in the last beta).
Thank GOD for BeamNG Drive and leaving this thing running traffic overnight. Went from BRRRRRRR in here while trying to sleep to NICE, in about 20 minutes.
Spawn 44 vehicles (one for me, the rest for traffic) and tried to bog it down. Nope, it went a fairly steady 30fps (avg). Still warmed it up in here something quick.
The electric space heater's got nothing on BeamNG Drive and this 6+ year-old 16 core CPU. I am SO not kidding about that either, this computer is better at heater than it is at computer.
I was just thankful that all the hot air coming out of the PC didn't hit the cold air in the room here and cause a (potentially dangerous / bad) thunderstorm. Not sure that'd be covered by the Church's insurance, nor how I'd be explaining that one to them (them being either the insurance company OR our loving congregation).
I've been busy refreshing things here at the Church. Cleaning, refinishing/painting, spackling (and sanding, ugh, though wet-sanding is a life saver - maybe literally if silicosis has anything to say about it). Even deep-cleaning. You could literally drop a cookie on the bathroom floor here, or a brownie, and EAT that brownie and be 100% fine. Not only that, you could literally eat your dinner off it. Seriously. I've spent hours scrubbing that thing over the last month or so, wearing through the sponge but I've brought that floor back to nearly new. Aside of some (rust?) stains on it, that are stained into the linoleum itself that I can NOT get out (not even with bleach), painting the walls, trim, spackling, sanding the grab-bars (regulation for disabled folks) back to new, it's almost magazine worthy. If it wasn't for all the ugly exposed pipes under the sink... maybe in a year or two I'll buy a vanity for the place.
After, of-course, I make sure the current wall-mounted sink doesn't plummet off it's mount from the wall.
So yeah, giving this old Church a lot of love, especially considering I am pretty much stuck in here (I can drive around if I wanted, but to nowhere it'd be, and I'd rather not waste/spend money if I don't truly have to).
It's partly my big thanks to the congregation for all the help and partly a birthday present for the pastor (he knows I'm working on it, but he does NOT know how beautiful and more modern it looks).

I have good news to report! My homelessness is finally coming to a close, after 10 weeks of not having a home. I will have my own place very soon.
I have finished my church's bathroom refurbishment, and am well on my way to fixing up the vestibule (which includes plastering an entire wall - not drywall, I mean PLASTERing, over cinderblock some of which was parged).
I will be in a position to upload a copy of Los Injurus in roughly a week to 10 days time, depending on how long it takes the interwebs to be installed (it'd be a bit murder over a 600kbps tethered cellular telephone connection).
So yes, today was a good day. The Lord heard my prayers last night, and for that I am quite grateful.
I am almost in tears, but they're good tears.
Thank-you to all who have stuck with me through the rough times, and to the many kind souls who have donated to the cause. It means so much, and has helped even more.
    --Thank YOU!

Homelessness was officially over as of the 4th. I stayed at the church until the 7th to finish up what needed to be finished (renovations, maintenance), and very happily got in here to take a shower - armed with towels soaps / shampoos and a shower curtain (well and a bathmat, can't forget that, unless YOU like dancing on the slick wet floors). No more living with vindictive narcissists, hooray!
I think if I have to spend the rest of my life, alone, in this apartment, I will be VERY VERY VERY HAPPY, considering the company I had among family was more akin to a horror movie.
HOWEVER, with my church family, and thankfully the many god-fearing neighbors here, there are plenty of open arms ready to hug a weary soul / traveler... and I'm ready to give back myself.
This is one VERY VERY weary soul. It took 10 weeks of homelessness to get a place, but it's a really GOOD place, and it's an affordable place.
The congregation members helped by gifting me kitchen bits, and were thrilled when they all (finally!) saw the bathroom remodel. Kitchen bits being pots, pans, cups, dishes, towels and such, anything you'd use in there.
Now, I'm not very good at kitchening or whatever you're supposed to do in that room with all the little doors that I can't fit through, but I know some ladies that make it smell very good in there. Don't know how they do it, maybe one of them will show me some time, how to do that, without regularly getting to know the local fire department staff on a first-name basis.
Today I've got internet, got it flipped on a few hours ago. Good internet, reasonably priced internet, okay I can do that. Had to drive TOO FAR to go get it but at-least you bring it home plug it in and use the app on your phone to activate it after paying in-store, and you're online in minutes VS waiting a week or two (or more) like it used to be when broadband first came out.
I should be ready to upload an update to this project sometime after about 2 or 3 days. I'm mostly settled in at this point, but there's still daily occurances of 'oh snap, I need to get one of THOSE from the store, or some of that etc', and I'm just today able to walk around decent after moving WAY too much stuff for a disabled person. I nearly missed church Sunday, but I was absolutely going 1000% as we'd not had church the previous 2 Sundays due to weather and I missed my Church family WAY too much to let a little inconvenience (such as nearly having to crawl into the building / not being able to stand up straight after driving there) stop me.
They look at me with the phrase 'you're too young to be moving like that, or having those issues' and I said back 'well, my skeleton was like an 80-year-old's back nearly a decade ago - wonder what it is now...'.
I DO have those problems, like a person in their 80's that doesn't move around so well anymore. If you beat the stuffing out of your body, and you ignore it's limits, and you don't take good enough care of it, you may just end up like me one day - so please, PLEASE take care of your body and DON'T end up like THE BOB.
As soon as I have a little bit of time to clear my mind some more and go over Los Injurus once more, to make sure to weed out any major visible bugs (there's still some AI snafus but that's going to be part of the fun) first.
Will keep folks posted. So any day now you'll see something, hooray. Will fast-track to public consumption once the supporter folks say it's good enough.
    --Thank-you for your support.

Oh and if you were South of Nashville today and stuck in traffic at an intersection next to some guy in a Corolla belting out 'Losing My Religion' louder than is probably good for those around, yeah sorry, that was me, but that song was also one I quite enjoyed back in the day & still do. I will sing it but I'm keeping my religion.

Surprise, the feature I need to use was bugged. If anyone's curious, it's the asset management tools in the editor. Ask it to report on how much of the 6500mb of graphics data is used. It says none of it. Ouch. The mesh asset tool does work, however. Reported this and apparently they've got it handled, these things of-course take time to test and trickle down the update pipeline.
So I'm going to try and MANUALLY slim this down over the next few times I sit here and work on it, if not much progress, will hand over to the devs and see what they say. I'd like to not lose a lot of my custom (and paid) graphics, as that's what gives this setting it's unique - and somewhat realistic - look.
Yes, I'm that dumb, I need them to help walk me through it step by step.
    I'm getting old.
Tis the joy of working with early access software. Assume NOTHING works, and you'll be about where you expect to be tomorrow.
Never-the-less tomorrow (unless something crazy comes up or I'm physically so broken I don't get much out the bedroom for the day) I will be uploading a supporter copy of this, full-fat sized, prior to changing things / pruning resources.
Got a little work done here and there, just fixing up loose ends, making some textures repeat less on roads I was working on recently, making sure all roads have cross-slope where expected in the development recently platted, etc.

'Ave a BANANA! The good ol' Honda Accordion is back!
Was just testing this, works lovely as always.
Didn't run any file shrinking stuff on this, so the full-fat version will be out as always for testing. When I figure out how to use the file shrinking tools without breaking them or having to fill bug reports, I'll use them.
Serious. I go to do something with one of the new features, I end up using the old features (the old features = the bug reporting feature, talking with the devs/staff, trying to figure it out with brain, then moaning about it on here).
I uploaded a copy to MEGA. Going to upload a copy elsewhere, too.
Don't remember what time it pauses the download, at what size. Tried to look it up. It'll pause if I go over 5 GB but it's only 4.45 GB so no worries.
Expect something for supporters to be posted soon, in next 24 hr or less
, or as soon as processes go through.
Only bug is one house doesn't have proper textures, but I think it's only used in ONE place in the entire level and it's rather hidden with trees.

Supporter links are sent out via Patreon with links via MEGA.
Won't make you wait as it's under 5gb unless you downloaded something ELSE off MEGA that day already that's over 550mb.
Only bug is a house that is missing it's proper textures but you / most folks might never even see it. Will fix it when I remember and decide it's worthy of doing something about - there's a ton of things to-do really.
Thanks to those who've given support, be it monetarily, be it help with working with this software(s), be it buildings or objects made, or even just some kind words - which always help.
Seriously. I'd probably be dead or have a prison sentence if it wasn't for y'all and God / my church family - seeing as my own family is anything but trust-worthy or mentally stable. Makes. Me. Sick.
That said, I don't miss living with those back-stabbing narcissists, no matter how nice they act when they need you. I will pass. I like having my own place, it's affordable, and no company one keeps is worth the mental abuse.
If that means I live ALONE with my two cats, for the rest of my life, then it will be a very very welcome and enjoyable solitude. I have the neighbors if I need company, they are good God-fearing folks thankfully.
This is how I lived in my 20's when I was between partners. I was OK with it and quite enjoyed it. I've come to enjoy it again.
Don't matter how noisy my neighbors are (within reason), or how loud the neighborhood is (the neighbors have lower limits than I), I could care less - again anything is better than living where I used to or being homeless.
Amen & God Bless y'all and also for the blessings given.
Even if you aren't religious, please respect that I've been through some serious hell and these are they, who have saved me - both mortal flesh and bone and he who is immortal.
    --Cheers!
    -The (very tired) Bob

Also, public release will follow when I figure out how to use the map slimmer tools to cut out the duped assets that are same as game-data, since you no longer need to include base-game objects/textures in user-levels (this was my idea, I said 'we've been doing this since the DOOM days, why aren't we doing it now, for those who want to complain about bandwidth of the server - and the fact I single-handedly took it down one Christmas with a Los Injurus update'). Yes, that year right around Christmas after a game update and then a Los Injurus update, that the entire BeamNG server went down for some days... that was Los Injurus. Sorry :x Live and learn, for me, for them, for all.
The product we have now is better for it.

    Hi Bob!

I've tried your new updated map of Los Injurus.
Before I was only using the version from the repo, so I was delighted about the massive changes in this map.

Generally ran stable, didn't have the time drive everywhere ... that would take very long.

I first tried to load the map while using the vulcan mode, which resulted in a crash.
It got to the point, where I could see my car and the surroundings, but BeamNG had a awkward hang/crash.
Interessentingly, when it hangs/crashs the VRAM usage stopped at above 9GB?!

With DX11 the map ran just fine!
According to MSI Afterburner it used a lot of my 16GB VRAM ... somewhere above 15GB.
But no hikups, frame drops ... just stable.

So, I haven't got any other problems to report.

If you have the VRAM to load everything in (somewhere just a hair under 16gb I'd imagine, but might be do-able on a 12gb nVidia card), it should run pretty swell.
IF you only have 8gb and you use high textures, it's going to run into problems - so for folks with 8gb GPUs (and there's a lot of folks with that), use MEDIUM textures and you'll be fine (this should have the detail level of stock levels on high, when you use medium on Los Injurus). Normally, it's best to make things on par with the stock game, but I kicked this up a notch because it'd take some time until it's done PLUS if I was going to use paid texture packs (and I have) then I want it high detail. No Quake MUD graphics here. No 2000's SMEAR gfx. Nope.
Try loading with Vulkan in subsequent runs. Maybe just the first time is a problem. If it continues to crash, please forward it to the devs and tell them 'loading Los Injurus on Vulkan = Boom'. Evidently this is usually due to a texture (or sometimes a model if I bugger one) loading in that it's not happy with and thus it does a good old #2 on itself, in technical terms, and thus back to the desktop you go. While the game can run into issues and keep going a lot better than say 5~8 years ago when it was much 'younger', it still has issues on loading certain things. So trial and error is in order. You can always send me a copy of your loading attempt's beamng dot log file in your user folder, the same one you'd send to the devs if you did a manual bug submission (most are auto-magical).
It should not crash, period. Some crashes I can fix, some I cannot. The only thing that should crash is vehicles you are driving around carelessly or if you feed the AI some to use.
That said, Vulkan SHOULD work for everyone, there's a few select bugs with it on AMD hardware, and it should be smoother than DX11 - but DX11 still works if your system throws a fit when you try to run Vulkan. It just might be lower FPS when there's a ton of cars on the screen or you're near the default spawn point looking in certain directions with one or more cars in view.
Thank-you for the info, it's always appreciated.

So hopefully my back continues trying to un-pretzel itself enough that I can go to worship tomorrow. Hopefully. It'd sure be NICE. I miss my church fam if I don't go, plus it feels like when you're a kid and you didn't do your homework if ya don't go. It's never quite been this bad, but it's going to slowly get worse over the years until it truly does 100% cripple me. I can fight it with exercise and weight loss, but being able to get active enough without a direct STARVATION DIET is tough when your back goes south, or knees act up, or your stomach goes on a warpath leaving you nearly chained to the latrine (sorry, but the truth of life isn't always fun). Hope you weren't eating dinner when you read that, but seriously, don't get old. It sucks, and it always hits at the least opportune times. THANKFULLY, and I thank GOD for this, it hit right AFTER I got my groceries carried in. So at-least I'm stuck in here with about 10 days worth of food.

@95Crash Thanks, I need to refresh the Tennessee level, but I've needed to update this first. Once this gets updated publicly than I can worry about that Roane County level and why it's being stupid with the terrain (I sort-of have it fixed over here but there's a bunch of jank with it being started from 2016 and all, it's got it's issues). Thankfully I can nix some of the worst slowdowns in that level, and the rest of what I can't fix, Vulkan can smooth over. That will come in time. And yes, yes it's entirely lovely to not be homeless. I'll try not to let that happen anytime soon BUT there's only so much I can do / control.

    Hi Bob!

I now tried again to load Los Injurus with Vulcan Mode twice and saved the according log-files.
Then I did a third try with DX11 and all went well (saved that log-file too).

I packed the files into one zip-file and attached them here.
    I hope this helps.

Hi there, not sure if its just me but the MEGA link for the early access on patreon isnt working. Would you be able to fix the link or potentially switch to a google drive or something as i hate MEGA lol.

Just wanted to mention a couple bugs with latest update. First one I noticed was the water looking a bit more black than it should be(Might just be me though, or the time of day, 7:26am in the game) Second one is the drain by the new area from a couple updates ago now(I believe). Third is the reversed left/right arrows near the house with orange no texture bug. Last thing I found(Unsure if intentional or not) the stop lights are stop lighting, they're just illuminated. Rough locations are included with this post as well. On a brighter note, glad to read that you're no longer homeless. Not to sure what you've done with the graphics, but I love whatever it is that you've done, total night and day difference.(Might literally just be the default time the map is set to making it look more beautiful than the last update)
