i imagine the devs want to support the game for a while on current gen consoles, and also have it so you dont have to run on lowest/low graphics (because they look rather bad), so i imagine spending a bunch of time porting to xbox for then to have to stop updating it since it becomes unplayable on series S would be a bad idea
With beamng coming to consoles it could possibly attract some players who are used to more arcade style games who will struggle with some of the games mechanics. Will the games hardcore simulation direction its currently going ever possibly be sacrificed a little to appeal to a broader audience in the future?
I also really hope that there will be no simplifications, both in the gameplay and in the simulation for optimization due to the low performance of the console, as well as the future implementation of thermal tires will not be super simplified, because after adding an official multiplayer and new tire physics, this game may attract sim racers (I hope so), I really want to arrange real hardcore races!
tbh most people were attracted to this game because of the crash physics, so i think that console gamers will expect it being not so arcade (because in the settings you can make the game as arcade (boring) as possible)
Maybe you've already got an answer, but if not: there is already an easy way to set up simple races with multiple waypoints since a couple of years. Use the "hotlapping" UI app for that. Here is a good tutorial: BeamNG has soooo many features, it's always worth to search for some random "BeamNG tips" videos from time to time, to learn some new stuff.
Is there a timeline you could give out other than “this year” for when the next update will be out? Not the date but at least a month or something like that please?
I've only used the Microsoft Store to buy Forza Horizon 5 and Forza Horizon 6, otherwise I try to avoid it whenever possible
No, nothing to worry about on that front. Physics-wise, PC users have always had more unrealistic input methods, with keyboard being the overwhelming majority. And gamepads/wheels being a very distant second. So from that point of view consoles would, if anything, be an excuse to go more hardcore, not less Gameplay-wise, all existing PC gameplay is not gonna be modified or replaced with arcadier one, it'll all remain as-is. The only possible tweaks that might happen are the same tweaks that already happen for low-spec PCs, for SteamDeck users, etc due to performance constraints. The future development direction is extremely unlikely to change, because the dev team is still us, the same people from previous years, with our same overall interests as always.
Impossible to tell at this point, this is all up to how much optimization we can cram into it, we still have tons of work left ahead of us. But generally this is similar to any other platform. Don't expect to spawn as few cars in smallgrid as in a properly detailed map, etc.
Not sure if this has been asked yet, I’m too lazy to scroll through 15 pages, but is there a plan to roll out updates/optimisations on the PS5 version on the same/similar day as PC versions, or will there be different schedules for the two versions?
We have no reason to artificially delay optimizations, so things will be released when they are ready. What we wrote in the blog is still true though, we can't provide a definite timeline for any update, other than "later this year". No point inventing fake dates and then inevitably either break our promises or rushing unfinished updates.
I think it'll be around 12 because 0.38 handles this many cars on my pc which is close to ps5 in terms of power (i have intel i5 10400f, rtx 3060 12gb)
What's the it's required specs gonna be like for certain people? That in the new update, if you don't mind me asking. Because I've got decent specs, but I'm just asking for those low end people.
