Did you try it with any other models with sucess? I've tried it with a few vanilla vehicles and vehicle mods without issue, so it seems weird it would get stuck on the dseries. I'll still give it a go when I do more work on the tool --- Post updated --- I reproduced the error, I'm pretty sure its a JBeam parsing error. Basically JBeam is a file format that is very similar to something called JSON, but it's much more loose and sloppy which means a standard json parser will produce errors. I've solved most of them but this looks like an edge case I haven't ran into. Once I've fixed it I'll post an update
Thanks for reporting the error. I fixed the identified JBeam parsing errors and version 0.2.2 is now available on GitHub. Good luck with the D series conversion I've also noticed another bug, the trailer hitch isn't correctly positioned in the preview. This is because it has multiple placements since the truck has different bed lengths, its ended up skipping one of the transformations. I'm looking into fixing this next but it shouldn't affect the vehicle output, it should only affect the preview.
Not sure if this would be possible, but does/could this mod also come with a way to put any shape of plates (aka add both US and EU plates) on any car? Mostly asking for this because there are a lot of mods that only have one or the other
You can, in the top left table last 2 columns are drop down lists, you can pick different plates there. In the first column you can choose between doing a conversion (switch driver handedness and that conversions plates) or both, this creates a new variant in the vehicle selector. Only reason to do the latter is if you want different front and rear plates as vanilla vehicles don't do this and my work around is specific to the vehicles my tool spits out. But of course this is WIP so your milage may vary
What's your AV? Can you provide info on what it specifically flagging, cropped screenshot of the message from your AV or Windows?
Anti-virus software --- Post updated --- Could you post a screenshot or phone photo of the exact warning your computer shows? Please include the whole warning message ut crop out any personal information. Also let me know whether it appeared when downloading the file, extracting it, or opening BeamXP, and confirm that you downloaded it from the official GitHub release. Windows displays several different security and reputation warnings, so I need to see the exact message to identify which one you are getting.
It's the factory one. --- Post updated --- heres a cleaner one --- Post updated --- https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/wds...rojan:Script/Wacatac.B!ml&threatid=2147735503
Okay, it really did give you the big scary warning. I'm glad you provided microsoft's page for the detection, as it states script/Wacatac.B!ml is a broad heuristic label and that its heuristic nature can sometimes produce false positives. BeamXP does several things that may look suspicious to an automated detection system, despite being legitimate parts of its functionality: - reads, creates and overwrites files in BeamNG's AppData directory and other user-selected locations. - extracts, modifies and repackages vehicle mod archives. - creates files intended to be loaded by another application. - it is a new unsigned application I can submit the affected app to Microsoft for review, which should stop that specific build being flagged on peoples PCs: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/wdsi/filesubmission?msockid=0acce2a92e0d6cc92f69f4e12f1c6dc5 However, I am about to release another version tonight and BeamXP is currently changing very quickly. Microsoft reviews the specific file that is submitted, so there is little value in submitting a build that will be replaced almost immediately. For now, I will add a warning to the GitHub README explaining the current false positive issue. Once development has settled and BeamXP is closer to a finished product, I will submit a stable release to Microsoft for review. In the meantime, please let me know if Defender flags a newer version and include the version number and a screenshot of the warning.
What does it need to overwrite files in BeamNG's AppData directory for? It seems to only create new files.
If you rebuild a mod with the app (click "Build + Install") it overwrites the mod zip file it created earlier
I can't find a way to ignore the alert and download the file anyway. --- Post updated --- Nevermind, I bypassed it.
I can't remember exactly how, but googling something like "how to white list an app windows defender" would probably find you the right tutorial. But I'm expecting to put a new release out in the next few hours, so it's probably worth holding off. --- Post updated --- New build has been released: Telestang/BeamXP. Fixed issues with the preview that were made apparent with the D-Series. The truck bed hitch and other parts weren't correctly placed on some trims which included it, this only affected the preview and not the output vehicle zip.
Somehow, the default D15 V8 4WD (A) was not changed with the batch conversion. It made a unique config. but it is identical to the vanilla config. The parts are there and the other versions I spawned where correct, but not the default one.
Did you rebuild the mod while the game was running by any chance? --- Post updated --- I asked because its an issue I know about but it's slipped my mind when it's come to documenting it. Its something to do with BeamNG's runtime cache so stuff loads faster and changing the mod file mid game causes it to bug out. Restarting the game generally fixes it.
If you've loaded the vehicle at any point during the game session it could still trigger this error. There's not a lot I can do about it other than attempting to mess with the game cache but if I'm honest there's other features I want to focus on. Currently the "Recommend Modes" using the part names to decide what transforms to apply to what parts, it's fairly accurate, especially on vanilla vehicles where the devs seem to follow a naming rule set / pattern but it's not 100%, even more so on community mod vehicles. I'm working on a version which uses spatial reasoning instead, the idea is if I can get the "Recommend Modes" accuracy past a certain threshold, human review will be truly optional. Instead of an external application, I could potentially integrate the tool into BeamNG itself so it appears on an in-game menu where the user can load a vehicle, go into a menu and select "Switch to RHD" or "Switch to LHD" then it does it's thing and reloads your current vehicle in the RHD/LHD configuration. Doing this would turn the backend of this tool into a BeamNG mod itself you could just drop in the mods folder and it could potentially go onto the official BeamNG repository so it could be downloaded/installed from the in-game mod manager. I have a bunch of ideas to make this the least friction approach to using BeamXP
