All other cars seems to drive reasonably straight for a good period of time.

I was just wondering why the sports car doesn't?

I don't know much about cars and I assume it's probably normal.

I did some tests and if I re-spawn the car and hold accelerate down constantly after it does the same thing everytime where as it veers off to the left or right and then loops.

Not once did it just drive straight.

Here's an example of what I mean:

As the wiki states, "Keyboard driving is not recommended." I have the same problem when using the keyboard. I think you need to use a gamepad or steering wheel to drive properly.

it's probably because it's RWD and the wheels aren't perfectly smooth thus giving less traction and therefor allowing the car to sway more easily. Probably something like that :)

Just to note I am using my wireless Xbox controller.

@Davey - Would that be an issue with the game's car mechanics for this one car or would that be real life?

I'm sure in real life one can drive these cars straight!

It's to do with how the wheels are made in the game, in real life i suppose it could happen but not for the same reasons.

By chance are you taping down the trigger? Not a good idea in an oomphy RWD car, you have to ease the throttle on. :)

No, no, no, no, no, no, no.
If you mash the throttle with it, no matter how good of a driver you are you're spinning out. It's already hard enough to control with a wheel if you want to try to get some speed out of it in a short distance.

looking at the skidmarks on the pic (hahaha...) it would show that even when he stopped wheel spinning (Gained control) he then randomly loses traction and spins out, that's what i was trying to explain why. But you are right, full throttle, wheels spinning and it is incredibly hard to control a RWD car.

Maybe the Civetta will be made 4WD in a update :) ? I think some of Lamborghini's and Ferrari's cars are 4WD. They send 20% to the front wheels and 80% to the back.

I agree it is a rather hard car to handle even with a Thrustmaster Gamepad. I think it's just an old car, therefor it doesn't have any assists or little a assists. At least it doesn't blow up like them really old F1 cars do, whenever you rev even slightly too high. :p

I'm sorry but. THATS MODERN ART! But in all seriousness, I'm assuming you mean the Civetta Bolide. In Gabester's thread about the Civetta Bolide it says this "You've probably figured out by now that this is supposed to be Italian. It's also going to be fast, unsafe, and feature pop-up headlights." The unsafe bit makes my think that this might be one of the reasons for the out of control mess that is the Bolide.

Yeah it's not very good this thing. The heavy slower vehicles and the low powered hatch back are all easy to control, even on dirt, (in an arms flailing crazy seventies American car chase kind of way) but this thing is stupid, basically undrivable at anything above a whisper of throttle or the slightest application of steering. Hopefully tyre physics are being improved.

The suspension is one of the problems, if you look at the wheels at full acceleration you see the whole wheel moving under the car, causing the car to steer with its rear wheels.
Accelerating with moderate throttle in first and second gear limits the suspension deflection and that makes it drive able when playing with a wheel (no keyboard).
I think the wheels / suspension simulation needs some more work :)
