Why do Europeans hate American cars?

I realize, but that's the biggest place to start. American automatic transmissions are certainly heartier than European or Japanese ones, I mean we did invent them after all. Manuals rarely fail no matter their country of origin.

As for non-drivetrain bits, sometimes US cars might require a bit more maintenance than Japanese cars but the parts are cheaper. God knows they need less maintenance than European cars. Really the only things that can be called 'unreliable' on US cars are the power doodads like radios and seat motors, and even that depends on the car.

    What??

Firstly you see chevrolets everywhere, not just imports but UK versions
Then theres Chrylers, the grand voyagers are really common, and you see a fair few PT cruisers too.
Don't forget Jeep either.. I don't where you came up with the idea they are rare.

People often stereotype the cars as big, wasteful, and ugly, but can you say any different about British cars like Range Rovers?

Here, American spares are actually the most expensive. Why? Huge trade links with Europe (being an eu member) makes obtaining euro parts dead easy. I have been informed Japanese spares are hardly problematic in the states which also is the case here (dead easy to get and don't cost an arm and a leg). The American manufacturers are much much harder and far more expensive for us to get parts for.

In 2015, there are some darned ugly cars from both ends. There are some darned fuel-inefficient cars and darned huge ones to boot.

BMW seems to be a big culprit on the large cars here. Their SUVs are some of the largest luxury SUVs on the market in Southern California, and not that fuel efficient. Of course you can spring for the hybrid, but not for a price. Mercedes has some ginormous cars, and some, even recent ones, that are pointlessly heavy and, frankly, ugly.

Also, that new BMW plug-in wasn't exactly my favorite.

However, there are some god-awful Chevys and fords out right now. I like the mustang too much to call the 2015 ugly, but.... Some chevy's and other GM cars are just disgusting. Chrysler and Dodge are becoming the same thing. Literally, every car now is nearly an identical twin to the other. (Charger, Dart, 300, etc) Ford is really mixed because they have undoubtedly american cars, some look Japanese, and others look European. I think Ford definitely has the most diverse looking line-up in american cars. Their subsidiaries like Lincoln are just meh. Mazda is Ford's japanese division, and their cars were always a favorite. The CX7 we have lacks in back-seat space, but makes up for it in Fuel Economy. However, the AC keeps getting busted and it hits well over 100F in the summer here.

We also have a Scion xB and it's probably the roomiest... hatch? Cross? car thing in existence. Plus, it's 100% adorable! :B

Also, consider that American cars may lack in fuel consumption because our lack of hybrids. Americans tend to travel MUCH MUCH MUCH farther than our Euro friends. In the time it takes to travel California, I could have traveled across 3 countries. That's why our Semis are shaped and operate differently. They're built for long-haul... REALLY long-haul trips.

    Because American cars are crap!

They are simply just way too big:

    (imported from here):)

Well, for the roads in America, they're brilliant, but here in Britain, you would take up the whole road! Not only this, but they really don't corner well (Take the Gavril Moonhawk for example). And And American games often make American cars much better that what they are in real life. To be fair, most old american cars do look beautiful though.

Because American cars ARE ugly and stupid. They're enormous, badly engineered, and they'll fall apart after 2 days.

    You are an idiot.

I think nothing more needs saying on the matter considering there are plenty of american vehicles perfectly intact many decades after manufacture. Nor are they that big when you look at one on the roads, certainly not as big as you expect, just proportioned in a way that makes them appear big.

All the new american cars I've seen getting imported here had paint like this:

    YdApvWr.png

Ford raptors, camaros, chevrolet pickuptrucks etc. all of them are badly painted like that.

This is not only an extremely ignorant and one-sided view, it can also be interpreted as racism.

    - owner of a chevy for 12 years, not a spot of rust and never broke down aside from a fanbelt snapping. Also previously owned a ford for 9 years before its limited trunk space wasn't enough.

thinking that the nationality of a car decides its qualities is the same kind of thinking that someone's nationality affects their qualities. I like certain cars, some are American, some are Japanese, a few are Korean, a few German, a few English, a few French, etc.

People sometimes ask me, "robin, why do you hate people so much?" This post is why. Look at this, how unintelligent and research-less it was written.

Have you owned an American car? Have you experienced the charm that one possesses? We have increased our reliability factors exponentially in the passed 5 or 6 years. American cars are no longer the plastic shitboxes they were in the late 90s. A Cadillac is not just a big beast on wheels now, they are luxury cars, many with small and turbocharged engines. American manufactures are starting to shy away from big, thirsty V8s, especially Ford with the EcoBoost V6 they're shoving in literally everything they make. GM are actually making their V8s fuel efficient AND powerful. Chrysler has diesel options for many of their vehicles, like the Dodge Ram 1500 (3.0L V6 diesel) that does almost 30 mpg. 30 mpg, in a pickup truck. That's impressive. The current Corvette is the best Super Muscle Car you can buy right now. It'll even take on and beat many of its Japanese and European rivals. The new Mustang has independent rear suspension and the GT350 has a V8 with a flat-plane crankshaft and revs to 8500 RPM. That's Ferrari stuff right there.

Please, please, PLEASE do research before you post like that, it makes you look more intelligent.
