It wont let me choose my game path, Everytime i choose it it just stays blank. am i stupid or is something wrong?
I was wondering if you knew of any problems pertaining the launching of the editor. When i try to launch it, it always crashes. if you now how to fix this it would be a big help. Thanks -Limelava
I can't say when V 0.0.0.12 will be compatible, or when V 0.0.0.13 comes out (which should be compatible). But what I do know is that you should be able to use V 0.0.0.11 with Windows 8/8.1. Try changing the path in the config.dat file that's in "[drive letter]:\Users\[username]\AppData\Local\DriveBeamEditor". You should be able to open the file with a text editor. Also, I think that the new file managing system that the devs implemented recently is incompatible with the editor right now. I think you'll have to extract the archive in order to edit the file. A word of advice, create another folder named "BeamNG.drive" in a different directory. Then copy everything inside of your main BeamNG.drive directory, except for the "contents" folder, to the folder you just made (copying the user back-ups folders should be unnecessary, if you have them). After this, create a new folder named "vehicles" in the new folder. This new directory should be compatible with the program. Once you've done this you can copy, move, or extract the file(s) that you want to work on into the new vehicles folder. Exclude the "vehicles" folder that's inside each archive. If extract the archive like this the program won't find the folder.
I don't get it, if this editor is not compatible with the game path, then what game is it for? it should be as simple as choosing the vehicle path and open it, not having to move folders around to (hopefully) make it work. I was only able to make it work once but I've had to copy the entire game folder to the one that the editor points out. Changing the config file doesn't do a thing. Now I've downloaded the latest version (13) and again, points to the wrong path, this is ridiculous.
Changing the game path in the config file that comes with the download doesn't seem to do anything; trying to change the path in the editor has never worked for me either, unfortunately. Try changing game path in the file named "config.dat" that's in "[drive letter]:\Users\[username]\AppData\Local\DriveBeamEditor". You also need to make sure that the vehicle you're trying to work with isn't compressed. The editor doesn't detect compressed files at the moment. You also don't need to copy all of the contents from the BeamNG.drive directory. If you exclude the "contents" and the user backups folders you should be able to cut the copying size down to around 500MB
windows 8.1 here, up to date: DriveRTVE-V0.0.0.12 - crashes instanty DriveRTVE-V0.0.0.12OldLayout works with no errors, but i can't figure out how to make it show my model in 3d editor so i can create nodes ... DriveRTVE-V0.0.0.11 - opens but when i try to open the same project as i open with DriveRTVE-V0.0.0.12OldLayout it crashes with the following error : Invalid Polygon the error appears right when you click on the "=>" icon to open the editor for the file I have all the files named the same in the vehicle folder. i also included .3ds and .obj files.... (each one at the time and then both in the same time) the files are exported by 3ds max or blender.... the dae file was created with blender.... any idea? - - - Updated - - - well i figured out by myself how to make the editor to work, i only can use alpha 0.11 ... but at least it shows the model now i think 3ds files aren't so good for this editor so by adding the obj file worked for me... NOW i'm facing a tricky problem: the model is shown vertical on the perspective area ... i can rotate it and everything, BUT how in the name of God do i know when it 100% parallel with the x and y axes? thanks!
i downloaded .12, and it will not work, i get a has stoped working error. i copied the folder to my destop, IDK whats wrong, does this work with the newest update to beamng?
The editor in its current state isn't compatible with the newer file-system that BeamNG uses now. Also, if you're using Windows 8/8.1, version 12 of the editor will not start as it's not compatible with that version of Windows. However, you can use version 11, that works just fine with Windows 8. To get the editor to recognize a vehicle so you can load and work on it you can refer to of my earlier post(s) where I suggested a method to do so.
im extract beameditor on desktop or beamng directory, im using win7 but dont work any version. im try to change in appdata/local.... the parameter to D:steam/common/beamng...... and in the program can see the route, but cant load cars. and extract all cars and not work. say a error with the route d:steam.... any program to edit or create parts of cars? only want create some bumpers for cars. but cant do work this program :/ thanks.
ok, two more things, one, when ever i edit and save a file, it puts the entire code in notepad ++ on ONE line lol. is this supposed to be this way for this version? and how do i change the directory to the steam/steamapps/common ext.? i can go find it in the file selector, but i cant select a file.
As far as I know, you can't undo/remove nodes, beams, or triangles. To save the file with indents just click the save button and click yes when it asks to make the file readable; instead of right-clicking on the car to save. Be careful with saving though because the editor saves whatever car is selected with the information that is active in the editor. So if nothing is active in the editor and you click click save it will ask if you want to make a new file. So if you (accidentally) click yes it will delete all of your work, and there isn't a second confirmation window either. You can copy the contents of a folder, but you just have to be careful and maybe make a backup. For your third question you can refer to one of my older posts on this page. - - - Updated - - - I'm not sure if the editor can read archives but I am sure that it wont detect a single car if it there are multiple "vehicles" folders. So you have to copy or remove the folder that has the name of the car and place it outside of that folder. If that doesn't work you can refer to one of my older posts on this page for another suggestion.
