BeamNG.drive development snapshots

Cool, but im a bit nervous about the "may corrupt your computer" warning.

 

Just downloaded the 5 .zip's and extracted the folder, but then I looked inside it and it looked like it was completely standalone from the "stable" version I have in steamapps. So I double-clicked the beamng application in the downloaded folder and the game actually does start up. Loads the level even but then it fails to load the car and now I'm basically scared to overwrite my "stable" version because the 3.8.1 just might not run on my "cheap-as-chips" laptop...

 

Would it be prudent to run this on another drive and keep it totally away from 0.3.8.0?

 

I went the lazy route & had a nice chap who had already downloaded this give me the complete folder.

 

That is a bad idea, steam will try to reinstall beamng when it realises the files have all changed.

 

How hard is it to exctract 5 zip folders into one folder...


Anyways this is pretty nice, gives a good idea of what to come.

 

Only the 32 bit version works with spawned vehicles. 32 bit version works just fine anyways.

 

How do you open the files? 7-Zip and WinRAR are saying these files can't be opened.

7-Zip says Unspecified Error on the first file.

The Roamer is part of the D series. Just select the appropriate parts config.

 

Yes, but how do I get a vehicle to spawn?

 

People its not that hard.

Step 1: Ignore the guy who said put it into your steam folder, that is an awful idea.
Step 2: Download all the 7zip files
Step 3: Extract the folder from the .001 zip to anywhere on your hard drive and it will automatically take it from the other zips (using 7zip only)
Step 4: Launch the exe from Bin32

 

i cant get 7z to open the files if i want to open it it only give the option of winrar i do have 7z on my pc tho

 

Can we not tell anyone how to use this please? This thread is already turning into what we expected. Honestly is it that surprising that the member that asked for the snapshots couldn't install them?

It's depressingly obvious this forum just can't handle testing builds.

My only question is this. Why are there file size limits? You guys (devs) have a video hosting service, couldn't you allow the larger files to be uploaded to there and then link them to here? (Could be wring and be making my entire post look hypocritical.)

If you can not even figure out how to use google to find out how to tell windows to use another program you can't be expected to use the build.

 

Just got home from school, then babysitting. Works fine for me. Are y'all seriously unable to figure out how to extract and run files?

If you want to open the zip file with 7-zip just right click file no. 001 and navigate through: Open with > Choose program > browse > now find the 7-zip instalation folder ( should be C:/ProgramFiles/ by default) and double click on 7-Zip File Manager (7zFM). This will open the zip with the game inside.

 

But I can install them. Did it without a hitch....

 

I am worried about downloading this. I have no clue where to put it in my files, or which one to download. I don't want to ruin my BeamNG. But, will this update with the Roamer be in a steam update eventually?
