I can't sleep because I am stressed... My band concert is coming up in 2 weeks. I can't wait for it, and yet I am anxious. More anxious than for any previous performance, marching band or concert band.

If you get anxious, chew gum. Your body will think "Hey, I'm eating food, that means I'm safe." and you will relax, at least a bit. Works for me.

Also, I was looking at this pic (front axle on an old ford) and I noticed this thing (outlined in the pic).
    Uje0cvp.jpg
Doesn't look like steering, since the steering bar is down at the bottom of the axle. What is it?

Does look a lot like steering. I'd say the steering assembly pushes that rod to make the hub pivot. The bar running across probably ties the direction of the wheels together.

It's due to stress and my really bad anxiety.

In other news. NASA accidentally discovered a form of warp drive. Fun.

Don't think that you are actually performing for other people, but just playing as well as you can.

You do worse if you stress a lot about that. Also, and this may just be for percussion, but always play something, even if it's wrong.

You'll be fine, don't worry about it. ;) Just honestly play as well as you can. What do you play?
I would say always try and play something, but if you have more than one on a part you can drop out if you get totally lost.

That seems like good advice at first, but that also takes away from the sound you are trying to get.

For each section, you want to sound like 1 person that is as loud as the actual number of your members, or more. If you have passion for the band, you'll sound much more experienced!

On that note, please don't join marching band for any reason besides showing your interest in the actual sport. It makes it very annoying for the people who are in it for the actual performing part of it, and it makes the entire band sound worse if you don't care about it. (this is for anyone in general, not just to you)

Fucking pissed at the sub from last period. Chinese class, on Fridays, it is a free day, do whatever. A movie is usually shown, and I usually sit with my laptop doing some work on projects, etc. I sit down on the couch, get out my laptop, and boot it up. She says, "Get in your normal seats." I get to my seat, she calls roll, and she says we are watching a movie, and doesn't even mention the fact that we have free time. I go back to this couch, and pull the screen up. She walks over to me and my friend, and says, "Get off of your laptops." I try to explain, "Mrs. Bell lets us do whatever on Fri-" "Too bad, get off of it now." "Well, I was trying to exp-" "Life is tough, you can play video games later." "I wasn't going to pl-". She walks to her desk, stares me dead in the eyes, as I do, and she does whatever at her desk, I look at the movie on the screen, and I look back at her, and she has her phone on her lap, hiding it effectively. I am sitting to where it is in plain sight, and I just fucking start swearing under my breath. Whenever I looked at my lap and looked up, she was staring me in the eye.
Teachers aren't supposed to be like this. Smart-ass remarks to students in front of the class, general disrespect for the "lesson plan" she was supposed to be following, instead of patrolling the class, taking up phones, for no reason whatsoever. Oh boy, do I love my school. That ruined the only free period I had all day to be productive. She just blatantly disregarded all manners to stop me from telling the truth. Now my friend and I are going to the school's administrator head, to have a nice talk about how teachers are supposed to treat students.

    K.

You do realize teachers are there to instruct you on what to do, and free days aren't always supposed to happen?

Don't expect the teacher to not sound annoyed if you keep disregarding what she is requesting you to do, despite what the other teacher may do at this time. She isn't there now, so it's not her plans that get used.

I don't understand your thing with feeling horrible when things don't go your way, and you have to listen to authority.

Well, I looked at the plans, and they said, "We watch a movie, the kids know what it is, and they have free time if they do not watch the movie -Zeng" Almost everyone in that room was hating her during that class. A solid 18/25.

    Fun fact:
I nearly passed out in assembly and also in an exam. The school had a policy of students only being allowed to wear school uniform in assembly meaning that you were not allowed to wear a coat, they also made students queue up outside the hall. I have difficulties with low temperatures so that did not end well. Two minutes after getting into assembly i was pulled out after another student had pointed out to a teacher that i was looking pretty bad.

Basically the same thing happened in an exam, we were kept waiting in the snow outside for 15mins since there was a delay with the exam. I was barely able to hold a pen let alone write after i got into the exam, i was struggling pretty badly but had to deal with it due to exams being exams. But these days i do exams in the staff conference room with 3 or 4 other people so i dont have to wait outside. Its a far better experience since there is only one adjudicator and you get to have a chat with them before the exams start and you are in a fairly small and warm room. Since everyone in that room gets to their exams early they usually start 5-10 mins early meaning we are often out 10-15 mins earlier than everyone else. Everyone does their exams around a large conference table and the chairs are also comfy (and warm since they are padded).

If that's actually what they said, it still means you watch the movie.

The teacher would have meant to allow free time for everyone if that teacher didn't choose or have the ability to show the movie. :|

School is honestly so much better once you actually take it as a positive thing, rather than a BS waste of time. I know this from experience, and it still works up to a point with crappy schools.

The teacher meant the movie is shown, but we also had free time if we wished. And I try to take school positively, but it is so hard when all you see on the calendar is about 8 finals and 5 more quizzes and 2 tests, just for 2 weeks, it kind of ruins it. But that woman, man. O.O

At my old school, we had a nasty sub. One time she yelled at a student. everyone in the other end of the hall heard it. Mind you, it was a short hall, but still. We never saw her again lol.

Aah that shit must have sucked. There's a few notorious subs around here, but that woman just took the icing. If I had no conscience, she would have been put in her place quick. Hehe. I'm thinking of nice ways to kill people now, not as angry now, but seeing her in a cage with no way out, and people talking like she is some dog shit on the sidewalk, nice.
