http://www.evga.com/Products/Feature.aspx EVGA is having a HUGE sale right now, you can get a gtx 670 FTW+ edition for $99.99 or a gtx 590 for $99.99, which is definitely still quite a powerful card
Got one of these at RadioShack today for $5. ( bai bai RadioShack, you'll always be missed in my heart.) Of course it doesn't compare to my 8323's, but not too bad for what it, gets decently loud and low. The specs say 2W RMS, seems louder than my 4W my laptop puts out, and the frequency response is stated as 180-20kHz, but it can go into the 30s while still reproducing a sine wave. http://comingsoon.radioshack.com/gigaware-usb-laptop-speaker/4000380.html#.VV_Ivk9VhBc
All of the stores are closing and turning into Sprint stores..... and I thought RadioShack had a bankruptcy.
Grid Autosport is up at 50% off until the 25th. Similar quality by the looks of it, however to each their own.
I decided to do something creative, and having not drawn anything in 4 years I figured why not do something difficult. A skeleton for a fantasy canine species using a mouse and the photoshop paintbrush tool, that'll go well. And it's the best thing I've ever fucking drawn. Jesus, I didn't know i could do that. It's not perfect... but I was expecting to finish with something comical and derpy.
You'd be amazed at how much potential we have to surprise ourselves. I built the Pembroke knowing nothing about tallships, the modeling thereof, or JBeam. It was a crappy JBeam, but it was still miles past where I expected to end up.
They sold all of their customers data. I guess that was enough to cancel out their losses. - - - Updated - - - Thats Bollocks. People want something that works. Windows 8 is a pain in the arse. Both on a touch screen and on the desktop. The one place where it would probably work really well is a touchscreen laptop since the keyboard would prevent 50% of the user interface problems because you could then alt+tab between desktop apps, or press an escape key or f11/alt+enter in a full screen program to take it out of full screen so you could get back to the windows UI. The charms bar is fine but application specific settings should not be placed inside of it, application settings should be changed inside of the application otherwise people cant tell if they are changing application settings or operating system settings. The charms bar is fairly useful as a quick method of getting to pc settings. But pretty much all windows devices have a physical windows button on them, why does that need to be duplicated there as well. The charms bar is useful for viewing the time since it is the only way to do so in a metro application. But Why are the quick settings like screen brightness not on the charms bar, its functionality is very limited, i want to be ableto pin things to it so i can access things i need often very quickly from there such as calculator. Android allows me to do this so why doesnt windows? I do really like how swiping up to get numbers works on the windows tabletbecause it is much faster than press and holding. But only certain pre selected key combinations work such as ctrl+c and ctrl+v etc. So any custom shortcuts in programs that use them do not work at all because the keyboard does not send those key combinations tothe programs. I guess another problem with the UI is that it is actually quicker to copy and paste something by selecting it and opening the keyboard and doing ctrl+c and ctrl+v as opposed to right clicking, mainly because right clicking doesnt seem to work on some occassions. While i like the metro start window i think that the windows 10 start menu will probably be more useful, although i do worry that it will prevent me from exiting full screen applications by pressing the start button to open calculator then pressing and holding the application icon on the start bar which is now visible because i opened calculator. Then clicking close application. One of the many work around that i have to use due to failings in the user interface design. Which could have been very easilly fixed by allowing me to use the same swipe from the side multitasking system for individual desktop applications as well as just metro applications and the desktop application. I could go on much further about the UI issues. Its broken and only seems to work because i have learnt workarounds. Its not a case of me not wanting change, change is the one thing i really want with windows 10.
Screen brightness is in the charms bar... As is the orientation lock. I personally prefer the charms bar plus start screen allot more than the old start bar. I didn't use the start bar like ever??? Close full screen applications by swiping down from the top of the screen, something demoed in the windows 8 startup procedure. Showing running apps is a different gesture. Place thumb on left bezel, swipe in about an inch or 2. Splitting an app requires grabbing the top of the app and dragging it to the left or right of the screen. Completely different actions
Screen brightness is not ON the charms bar, its in the settings sub menu, there is no need, there is plenty of space to have a quick toggles section which can be customized or a quick launch section. I would actually prefer the screen brightness to work as it does on cyanogenmod where you just slide your finger along the notifications bar, in this case swipe from the right slightly and slide up and down the screen.. That's entirely personal preference i guess. I do like the start screen but the new Windows 10 start menu seems like it could do the same job on tablets and do a better job on desktops. I will probably miss the organization of groups on the tablet though since that is quite nice. But i am willing to go without that since i can do the exact same thing on my desktop like i do on my PC on windows 7. Although i guess since windows occasionally screws up the positioning of desktop icons when rotating the screen they would need to fix that too. Nope, that does not work on full screen desktop applications, that just closes (minimizes) the whole desktop. Nope, splitting the screen requires dragging from the left side of the screen to either side of the screen you want to dock on. If you drag back over to the left side of the screen sometimes it will dock the application and sometimes it will put it back in the list of running applications. I think it is based upon whether you drag it into the left quarter of the screen for app list, left side of center for docking to the left side of the screen and the right side of the screen for docking to the right. Personally i think they should still allow the new (old?) start screen to be enabled as an option as well as the charms bar to be enabled as an option. Perhaps they just disabled the charms bar for the full release if its greyed out? EDIT: On second thoughts i wish they would just remove the charms bar. Do you have any idea how hard it is to use a scroll bar inside of steam on a touchscreen? It keeps opening the charms bar instead of scrolling since steam has no touch support at all. I mean at least i can scroll by using the pinch to zoom gesture...
Well I don't know, you should fill in its guts with a different color and such. Add a spleen, lungs, muscle structure, etc, go all out full medical on it. @ aljowen, SixSixSevenSeven Did you have issues with Windows 8.1 update failing to recognized your setting choices? The tablet I had would ignore my initial setup selections during the 8.1 first time start-up overlay. Thus a few times I tell it *no updates* (limited space) when what do you know, I connect it to the internet and bing* my harddrive is filled with Windows Update Downloads since I failed to double check the setting through classic control panel. Only gripe about 8.1 on a tablet.
I have Windows update enabled on the device so i have no experience of that. But i have a similar issue with the os ignoring my settings. The device used to be fine but after i changed my windows account settings it logged me out of the device for some reason. After i reconnected my MS account to the device it now always requires me to log in when i power up the device. I have it set to never ask for my password but it doesnt seem to care. The other settings just increase the amount of times i have to log in to every time i turn the screen on etc. The worst thing is initially i had to trial and error my way into the device because its wifi was turned off so it would only accept whatever password was last used on the device when i set it up several months prior. I wonder how many times microsoft has locked people out of their devices by turning password protection on when it was set to off?
So I have a brand new aftermarket laptop battery with good cells and a bad controller board and an old OEM one that lasts about 30 minutes. I want to swap out the cells and taking apart the aftermarket battery was easy, but the OEM Dell one is built like a fucking tank. So far I've gotten the sticker off.
